David Alonso Poised to Break Valentino Rossi’s 27-Year Moto3 Record Under Marquez’s Mentorship
Marc Marquez’s student is on the verge of surpassing Valentino Rossi’s 27-year-old achievement
The 1997 milestone set by Valentino Rossi is in danger of being overtaken.
A record set by Valentino Rossi 27 years ago might be surpassed this year.
David Alonso secured his tenth victory of the Moto3 season with a win at the Motegi circuit in Japan.
Alonso secured the Moto3 title, making him the first Colombian to win a motorcycle grand prix championship.
Alonso needs just one more win to equal Rossi's record of 11 victories in this category. He still has four races remaining to either tie or surpass this achievement.
Fausto Gresini, Marc Marquez, and Joan Mir have each secured 10 victories in the lightweight category.

In 1997, Rossi achieved his record by securing victory in the 125cc category while riding an Aprilia RS125 for the Nastro Azzurro Aprilia team.
Rossi's achievement of winning 11 out of 15 races in that season is notable, especially considering that Alonso has more chances this year.
Alonso has been mentored by Marc Marquez, with whom he has shared training sessions.
Marquez has eagerly embraced every opportunity to praise the potential of his young friend.
In Japan, Alonso mentioned that Marquez advised focusing on securing championship titles before moving up to MotoGP, rather than entering the series without having the experience of winning.
"Alonso is described as having a lot of emotions, according to Neil Hodgson of TNT Sports."
He mentioned that when he gazed at his reflection in the mirror, he started crying at the thought of what lay ahead.
"When the stakes are high during a race, his abilities shine through. While others may falter or overexert themselves, he remains composed and effectively uses his energy."
"He develops an intense concentration that allows him to make rapid decisions during races, much like someone with a decade more experience."
"His skill in racing is among the best I've witnessed."
"His personality is reminiscent of Valentino; he exudes charisma."
