Current Records at the Misano MotoGP Circuit:
Fastest lap: Francesco Bagnaia clocked in at 1 minute and 30.304 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap time in the race: Marc Marquez clocked at 1 minute 31.564 seconds (2024)
Francesco Bagnaia, who finished second in the two San Marino contests, sets a new lap record during Friday's practice session, signalling his strong form at the 2024 Emilia Romagna MotoGP.
The current world champion, aiming for his and Ducati's landmark 100th grand prix victory on Sunday, ended up 0.198 seconds faster than his competitor for the title, Jorge Martin.
In the San Marino Grand Prix, victor and leader in the morning session, Marc Marquez, appeared uneasy during his initial fast lap. However, after switching to softer tires, he secured a solid third position, surpassing Enea Bastianini.
Fabio Quartararo unexpectedly secured the fifth position for Yamaha.
Martin and Bastianini joined the list of riders who crashed, with Jack Miller from KTM being the first not to make it into the top ten for Saturday's Qualifying 2.
Bagnaia and Martin stood out as the sole competitors to achieve lap times faster than 1 minute and 31 seconds on medium rear tires, prior to the shift to soft tires for their time trials.
The day began with wet conditions, but by the time the afternoon arrived, it was completely dry, even though the temperatures were significantly lower than during 'Misano 1'.
Tech3 GASGAS newcomer Pedro Acosta, equipped with newly approved front aerodynamics, experienced a crash early on at Turn 14. The rest of the RC16 competitors faced a similar misfortune.
Miguel Oliveira encountered a mechanical failure that forced his Trackhouse Aprilia to stop, while Alex Marquez experienced a crash as he approached the first chicane, occurring shortly before he was due to receive new tires in the closing moments.
Fabio di Giannantonio, who had been considering undergoing an operation for a shoulder he recently dislocated, took a hard fall towards the end of the session. Alarmingly, the Italian appeared to be in distress.
Martin, Bastianini, and Brad Binder emerged unscathed from their crashes.
Monster Yamaha rider Alex Rins, who was at the back in this morning's session, missed the afternoon session because of illness.

Authoritative Records for Misano MotoGP:
Top Lap Time: Francesco Bagnaia clocked in at 1 minute, 30.304 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap record: Marc Marquez at 1 minute, 31.564 seconds (2024)
Marc Marquez resumes his top form from the conclusion of the San Marino MotoGP, spearheading the initial practice session for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, marking the second Misano event.
A moist circuit, combined with insights from the last race weekend and subsequent testing, resulted in just a few riders recording a lap time by the midpoint of the 45-minute session.
Victor of 'Misano 1', Marquez, who established a new lap record by clocking 1m 31.564s towards the end of the grand prix, led the initial practice session by recording a time of 1m 32.082s (opting for a soft front and medium rear tire) on his tenth and last lap.
This positioned the Gresini competitor 0.063 seconds in front of Jorge Martin, whose lead in points over Francesco Bagnaia was cut down to 7 following a risky pit stop strategy that did not pay off during the San Marino Grand Prix.
This morning, Bagnaia secured the fourth quickest time, trailing closely behind the Pramac squad member and recent San Marino Sprint third-place achiever, Franco Morbidelli. The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix serves as the successive Misano event, introduced to the schedule as a replacement for the called-off races in India and Kazakhstan.
Joan Mir, riding for Repsol Honda, was unable to participate in the San Marino GP because he was suffering from severe gastroenteritis, leading to his withdrawal from the Sunday race alongside his team-mate due to illness.
