Alex Albon Disqualified from Dutch GP Qualifying Over Floor Irregularity, Loses Top 10 Position
Alex Albon removed from Dutch Grand Prix qualifying due to floor irregularity
The F1 racer, Alex Albon, has faced disqualification from the qualifying round for the Dutch Grand Prix.
Alex Albon has been disqualified from the qualifying round at the Dutch Grand Prix due to the FIA discovering a discrepancy in the floor body of his Williams F1 vehicle.
Albon impressed during the Dutch Grand Prix qualifying round, achieving an eighth-place start position on the grid.
The driver from Thailand was the only one representing Williams on track following Logan Sargeant's significant crash during the third free practice session.
With the latest enhancements on Williams' car, Albon demonstrated impressive pace, securing a spot among the top 10 and qualifying in eighth place.
Yet, his advantageous initial spot came into question following the FIA's declaration that the car's floor body did not comply with the specified dimensions outlined in the technical rules.
Following the issue being brought to the stewards' attention, Albon was then removed from the official results.
The officials observed that the underside of Car 23 did not comply with the specified dimensions outlined in Article 3.5.1 a) of the FIA Formula One Technical Regulations.
The squad didn't challenge the accuracy of the FIA's measuring equipment or the car's assessed dimensions. However, they mentioned that their internal assessments yielded varying outcomes.
"The Officials have decided that the outcome of the inspection carried out using the FIA system in Parc Ferme is the one that matters, and the proper procedure outlined in the rules has been adhered to. As a result, the usual penalty for this type of violation is enforced."
