Zak Brown Calls for Red Bull Accountability Amidst Controversial ‘Bib’ Allegations: Demands Affidavit from Leadership and Mechanics

McLaren's Zak Brown is urging top officials at Red Bull to officially declare in writing that they have never utilized the contentious car component that sparked controversy in the United States.

The FIA investigated a contested component on Red Bull's vehicle, known as the 'bib' and 'T-tray,' which allegedly allowed the team to modify the ride height while the car was in parc ferme conditions—a practice that is against the rules.
There is nothing to indicate that Red Bull violated any regulations, and Christian Horner emphasized that the concerns of their competitors were simply a result of "paranoia."
After discussions with the FIA, Red Bull made modifications to their vehicle, yet the issue remains unresolved.
McLaren's CEO, Brown, expressed to the Daily Mail a desire for the top executives, as well as both past and present chief mechanics, to officially declare through an affidavit that they have neither used nor are aware of its use.
Rumors circulating among a few individuals in the pit lane hint that it has been utilized in that way. To clarify the situation, the traditional method of having someone 'sign here' to confirm what transpired seems to be the only solution.
"If I were given an affidavit and faced serious repercussions for lying, I would choose to be honest."
Brown insisted on a penalty being imposed if it is discovered that any regulations were violated. He stated, "There must be a deterrent."
"We have witnessed instances where drivers have been barred from participating in races and championships. To clarify, I am not suggesting that Max should face exclusion."
"There have been instances where teams have faced disqualification from races and championships. Should there be a breach of parc ferme regulations, the punishment should be significant, taking into account whether it was a single occurrence or a repeated violation over the past three years."
"There need to be repercussions."
As the F1 Mexico Grand Prix approaches this weekend, McLaren and Red Bull continue to fiercely compete in both the drivers' and constructors' championships.
Max Verstappen increased his advantage in the drivers' standings to be 54 points ahead of Lando Norris following the United States Grand Prix.
McLaren holds a 40-point advantage over Red Bull, leading the constructors' standings.
