Yamaha’s Influence in Pramac’s New Rider Selections: Max Bartolini Reveals Key Developments for 2025
Yamaha's technical chief inquired about their involvement in choosing the new riders for Pramac.
Max Bartolini talks about Yamaha's progress and the inclusion of Pramac.
According to Max Bartolini, Yamaha participated in the discussions regarding Pramac's roster of riders for the year 2025.
Starting next season, Pramac will transition to being a satellite team for Yamaha, ending their long-term partnership with Ducati.
It is anticipated that Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will be the riders for the revamped Pramac Yamaha team, which will be using factory equipment, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.
"Overall, Yamaha collaborated with Pramac on all the rider-related decisions," stated technical director Bartolini.
“We chose the optimal path for both the team and the organization.”
"We have four seasoned cyclists who will provide valuable insights for comparing different bikes and offering feedback."
"Additionally, seasoned cyclists can quickly adapt to a new bicycle due to their prior experience with other bikes."
It is worth mentioning that Bartolini has previously collaborated with Miller at Ducati.
Despite not providing specific names, Bartolini's confirmation that they have signed two 'seasoned' riders strongly suggests that Miller and Oliveira are on their way.
Pramac Yamaha had earlier been associated with a number of promising riders from Moto2.
Yamaha Sees Development Surge
The introduction of two additional motorcycles is a significant advantage for Bartolini and the Yamaha factory team, greatly enhancing their development efforts.
"It's crucial," he stated. "Based on my previous experience, having numerous riders is essential for a technician to gain insight and accelerate progress."
“Additionally, riders can use data from their peers as a reference point, which helps them improve more quickly.”
Bartolini commented on Yamaha's advancements this year, stating, "We have a significant gap, roughly about one second."
"We need to enhance every aspect of the bike. There are certain areas where we are lacking. Overall, it’s a lengthy process to make improvements across the board – including aerodynamics, electronics, and the chassis."
"Up to this point, we have attempted to alter our work methods."
"We have aspects that function well. Progress tends to be incremental."
"When you improve by a very small margin, it's hard to notice any change."
"The most significant enhancement is to establish the framework, refine the processes, and determine the working methods."
