Yamaha Secures Alex Rins for 2025-26 MotoGP Seasons, Strengthening Team with Quartararo
Announcement: Alex Rins Continues Partnership with Yamaha
Alex Rins has extended his commitment to Yamaha's MotoGP team, securing his position for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Yamaha has formally announced that Alex Rins will continue to team up with Fabio Quartararo in the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team for the 2025 and 2026 racing seasons.
Rins, who previously clinched victories for Suzuki and later for LCR Honda, made the switch to Yamaha at the beginning of this season, signing a one-year contract.
Despite achieving a top Grand Prix position of 13th this year and being absent from the German race weekend because of an injury, Rins is considered a vital part of Yamaha's long-term strategy, which places a strong emphasis on motorcycle development. His previous achievements, along with his exceptional dedication, meticulousness, and vast experience, underscore his importance to the team.
Following a surgical procedure right before the summer hiatus, Rins is set to make his racing comeback at Silverstone this upcoming weekend.
"We're thrilled to share that Álex Rins has extended his tenure as a factory rider with Yamaha for an additional two years," expressed Lin Jarvis, the managing director of Yamaha Racing.
"We've made it unequivocally clear that our ambition is to reclaim our leading position in the MotoGP championship. To realize this ambition, we've brought on board new team members, revamped our organizational framework, and broadened our collaborations with external technical partners."
Additionally, we've made a pledge to enhance our footprint in 2025 by introducing a second, standalone Factory Team. Now, the focus shifts to securing the riders we desire to attain the outcomes both we and they aspire to.
"Álex committing for an additional two years plays a crucial role in our strategy for the MotoGP Project."
"Álex stands out not just for his exceptional skill and speed on the track, but also for his technical knowledge, dedication, and ability to work well within a team. The partnership between Álex and Fabio instills Yamaha with a sense of assurance that they will collaboratively enhance the motorcycle development initiative."
"With the 2025-26 rider team for Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP now confirmed, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming 11 races of the 2024 season, concentrating entirely on our current objectives with Álex and Fabio."
Rins expressed his delight at extending his partnership with Yamaha for an additional two years, expressing gratitude towards the team and the leadership in Iwata for their confidence in him.
"Our objective is straightforward – to elevate Yamaha to its rightful place, competing for titles."
From the outset, it was evident that Yamaha was committed to enhancing their performance, dedicating significant resources toward achieving that goal. Consequently, through our collaborative efforts, we've achieved notable progress this season towards our objectives, and we aim to maintain this trajectory in the upcoming years.
"I'm thrilled to continue contributing my expertise in MotoGP and dedication to a team that has demonstrated a strong collective effort and commitment to keep pushing forward."
The team lineup for the factory has been finalized, but two additional M1 spots remain open for the 2025 season as part of the upcoming Pramac Yamaha initiative.
