Yamaha and Pramac Collaborate on 2025 Rider Selection, Max Bartolini Reveals Development Strategy
Chief technical officer inquires whether Yamaha contributed to the choice of Pramac's latest racers
Max Bartolini talks about Yamaha's progress and Pramac's new members
Max Bartolini stated that Yamaha played a role in determining Pramac's rider selection for the 2025 season.
Starting from the upcoming season, Pramac will transition to a satellite team for Yamaha, ending their extensive partnership with Ducati.
It is widely anticipated that Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will be the pair joining the revamped Pramac Yamaha squad, where they will compete with factory-grade equipment, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.
"According to technical director Bartolini, Yamaha played a role in all rider-related decisions alongside Pramac."
"We chose the optimal course of action for both the team and the organization."
"We possess four skilled cyclists who will serve as a valuable asset for contrasting with other bicycles and providing feedback."
"Furthermore, skilled cyclists can quickly adapt to a new bicycle as they have previous experience with different models."
Significantly, Bartolini has previously collaborated with Miller during their time at Ducati.
Despite not specifying their lineup, Bartolini's acknowledgment of signing two 'seasoned' riders strongly suggests that Miller and Oliveira are set to join.
Pramac Yamaha was earlier associated with a variety of emerging stars from Moto2.
Enhancement for Yamaha's Progress
For Bartolini and the official Yamaha squad, introducing an additional pair of motorcycles significantly advances their development efforts.
"He emphasized the significance, noting from his previous experience that having numerous riders is crucial for a technician to receive guidance and expedite progress."
"Additionally, to provide the rider with some guidance. Leveraging insights from fellow riders accelerates a rider's development."
Bartolini commented on Yamaha's advancements this year, stating, "We are significantly behind, by approximately one second."
"We're focusing on enhancing every aspect of the motorcycle. There are some areas where we're not as strong. Overall, it’s a comprehensive task to upgrade everything from aerodynamics and electronics to the chassis."
"Up to this point, we attempted to alter our work methods."
"Our effective components shine through. Enhancements are consistently minimal."
"Securing a five-hundredths improvement doesn't present a noticeable change."
"The most significant enhancement is to establish the framework, the betterment, and the working methodology."
