Xiaomi Urges Indian Competition Watchdog to Recall Flipkart Report Over Sensitive Data Exposure: Could Delay Antitrust Investigation
Xiaomi is urging India's competition watchdog to withdraw a report on Flipkart due to the inclusion of confidential business information. According to sources, Xiaomi claims that an investigation report on Flipkart discloses sensitive business information about the phone company that was not properly censored.
A retraction of the Indian Competition Commission's report could potentially postpone its anti-competitive scrutiny that was initiated in 2021. In an unusual step taken in August, the commission withdrew an anti-competition report on Apple, following the company's complaints about the revelation of its trade secrets.
Xiaomi has informed the commission through a submission that the inquiry report regarding Flipkart discloses confidential commercial information about the mobile phone firm. This information was expected to be censored before the report was distributed to those involved in the case, according to two individuals knowledgeable about the situation.
One of the issues Xiaomi has with the Flipkart report is that it discloses the sales specifics for each model, a detail considered confidential, according to one insider.
Xiaomi, Flipkart, and the competition watchdog did not promptly reply to questions from Reuters.
