Xi Jinping Launches China’s First State-Run Recycling Venture in Tianjin to Propel Green Economy Initiatives
China is set to establish its first recycling company managed by the central government, as part of President Xi Jinping's drive towards a sustainable economy. The new venture, named China Resources Recycling Group, will be based in Tianjin and is heralded by President Xi as a significant move towards developing a 'low-carbon economy.'
A launch event for the China Resources Recycling Group took place in Tianjin, a city in the northeast, on Friday, as reported by the state-run Xinhua news agency.
During his inspection tour in the southeast, Xi was unable to be present. However, in a statement reported by Xinhua, he characterized the firm as a crucial move towards developing a "green, low-carbon, and circular economy".
He also encouraged the firm to remain committed to recycling, transforming waste into valuable resources, and to adopt a strong position in fostering innovation, encouraging openness and collaboration. Additionally, he emphasized the need to streamline the usage chain of recycled resources.
Xi's communication was conveyed by Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing during the event, with notable attendees including Tianjin’s Communist Party leader Chen Miner, according to Xinhua’s coverage of the ceremony.
