VR46 Takes Over as Ducati’s Factory-Supported MotoGP Team: Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli Confirmed as Riders
Confirmed: VR46 will now receive factory support from Ducati in MotoGP | Rider lineup announced
Fabio di Giannantonio is slated to race on a factory-spec Ducati GP25 for VR46 next year, with Franco Morbidelli joining him as a teammate on a GP24.
Ducati has announced that starting in 2025, the VR46 team will replace Pramac as its 'factory-supported' MotoGP team.
The long-term agreement ensures that Valentino Rossi’s team will have access to an official Desmosedici GP motorcycle during races and benefit from comprehensive technical and sporting assistance provided by the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale.
While VR46 has not yet announced its riders, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi revealed on television that Fabio di Giannantonio will be riding the factory-spec GP25 bike next season. Franco Morbidelli will transfer from Pramac to join him as a teammate, riding a GP24, replacing Marco Bezzecchi, who is moving to Aprilia.
This also means that newcomer Fermin Aldeguer will join Alex Marquez at Gresini, finalizing Ducati's streamlined team of six riders.
VR46 team director Alessio Salucci expressed his pride in announcing that starting next year, the VR46 Racing Team will become the Ducati Factory Supported Team in MotoGP.
“We will be competing with an official bike and a GP24. If someone had told me this a few years back, I wouldn’t have believed them.”
“It’s a monumental achievement for the whole team: reaching this milestone in only three years, with a young squad, and many members coming from Moto3, is truly remarkable.”
“I am grateful to everyone involved in the Team, our partners, Ducati, and Gigi Dall'Igna for believing in this project and for successfully elevating it to its rightful stature today.
"We're facing tough years ahead, filled with obstacles, but we're eager to push ourselves and strive for ambitious goals."
Gigi Dall’Igna, the General Manager of Ducati Corse, stated: "Since the beginning, the VR46 Racing Team has demonstrated exceptional collaboration with Ducati, leading to significant accomplishments in recent years."
"We are pleased to strengthen our partnership by offering the Pesaro team comprehensive factory support beginning next season."
"I am confident that, working together, we can reach other important milestones! I want to express my gratitude once more to Valentino, Uccio, Pablo, and everyone who collaborates with the team with such enthusiasm and commitment."
Pramac, with its rider Jorge Martin once more competing against factory Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia for the championship, will transition to using Yamaha bikes next year. At that time, Martin is set to join Aprilia.
