Verstappen’s Red Bull Blazes to Pole in Austria: A Dominant Return to Form
Max Verstappen praises Red Bull's exceptional performance: "It's been some time since I've had this feeling"
Max Verstappen expressed his admiration for Red Bull following the qualifying round at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen has characterized Red Bull as "incredible" following a commanding display during the Formula 1 qualifying round at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Verstappen secured the top spot on the starting grid at the Red Bull Ring, outpacing his closest rival by more than four-tenths of a second, an impressive margin considering the circuit's brief layout.
The Dutch driver stood out remarkably, capturing his 40th career pole position in Formula 1.
Christian Horner hailed Verstappen as "truly formidable" across the team's communication system.
Horner: "Great job, buddy, that was truly powerful, absolutely powerful."
Verstappen responded: "The qualifying was incredible, the car felt exceptionally powerful, guys. Another great enhancement, truly remarkable."
Before arriving in Austria, Red Bull had faced a challenging series of races, consistently contending with McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes as formidable competitors.
Nonetheless, Red Bull returned to top form on their own turf.
"Verstappen expressed satisfaction with the session, noting, "The car was performing optimally, allowing me to be more aggressive. The grip and balance of the car made the drive quite enjoyable."
My goal was to advance through the first qualifying session without resorting to a new set of tires, and that strategy paid off. Following that, we made slight adjustments to the car's balance as needed. Each lap I completed felt solid.
"Following that, it essentially boils down to perfectly executing each turn. It's been a significant amount of time since I've experienced this feeling while driving and observing the distance to others. In the recent races, I've consistently been right up there, either slightly ahead or just behind. So, this has undoubtedly been a very encouraging sign for the team, in my opinion."
Verstappen didn't label his pole position lap as flawless, yet he expressed satisfaction with the improvements Red Bull achieved following the sprint.
"He further mentioned, "It was satisfactory," he continued. "Undoubtedly, looking back, there are aspects that could have been improved upon. I was assured, aware that a consistent lap would secure the pole position for me.
"Today's efforts were exactly what mattered. Our team really put in the effort to enhance our competitiveness beyond what we've seen in the previous rounds. It appears to be paying off."
"I suppose I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Naturally, the aim during qualifying is to execute flawless laps. While some attempts are more successful than others, this particular one was exceptionally good. I might never claim it was a perfect lap, but it was certainly a solid one."
