Max Verstappen's perplexing response to questions regarding a Red Bull departure clause
Max Verstappen probed on potential Red Bull exit
Max Verstappen provided a fascinating reply when asked about a potential exit clause in his contract with Red Bull.
Throughout the season, there has been ongoing conversation regarding the existence and specifics of a clause that could allow Verstappen to leave Red Bull prior to the conclusion of his contract in 2028.
Mercedes has explicitly shown their enthusiasm, and Aston Martin emerges as a notable choice, especially after bringing on board Adrian Newey from Red Bull.
Sky Italy inquired whether there is a release clause in Verstappen's contract with Red Bull.
"He responded in a mysterious manner, saying, 'Possibly yes, possibly no.'"
"To reiterate, my focus isn’t on that right now as there are numerous objectives this year that I aim to grasp and improve upon compared to future years."
"The future events are quite distant for me at this point, so I'm not really thinking about them right now."
Verstappen is guaranteed to remain with Red Bull for the next season as the driver roster for the 2025 Formula 1 season has been finalized.
In 2026, modifications to the engine rules open up opportunities for significant alterations, potentially disrupting the current hierarchy.
When questioned about whether he would switch to the team with the quickest vehicle, Verstappen responded.
"Personally, I feel like I've been a part of this team for quite a while now," he mentioned.
"Thus, it's evident that the desire to win is universal, with every individual in the paddock aiming for victory."
"It's quite simple to transition between the two sides as time goes by."
"I'm not keen on my Formula 1 career unfolding this way; I'm not interested in being associated with four or five different teams."
"My goal is to establish a lasting, solid, and wonderful connection with every team member and to create a sense of belonging."
Frequently switching teams is also not beneficial for me, and it's not something I wish to engage in at this point in my career.
"If I take another step, it would be my final one."
"However, the following move might also involve extending the contract with the squad. Currently, everything remains uncertain."
