Verstappen Leads Austrian GP Friday Practice Despite Red Flag Interruption, Piastri and Norris in Pursuit
2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix – Practice Sessions on Friday
The outcomes from the practice sessions on Friday at the Austrian Grand Prix, which is the 11th round in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.
Max Verstappen led the way in the last F1 practice session before the Austrian Grand Prix, finishing more than 0.2 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri.
The session didn't go without a hitch for Verstappen, who was responsible for the session's sole red flag incident.
Luckily for him, his vehicle was returned to the Red Bull workshop, enabling his crew to fix the sensor problem that led to the halt.
Lando Norris appeared poised to contend with Verstappen for the lead but encountered an error in the middle sector.
Mercedes maintained their impressive recent performance, finishing in fifth and eighth positions, achieving their fastest laps on the hard tyre.
