Valtteri Bottas Signals Urgency to Audi for 2025 Seat Amid F1 Future Speculations
Valtteri Bottas emphasizes the importance of clarifying his F1 career prospects with Audi soon, especially with a break on the horizon.
Valtteri Bottas is keen on resolving his Formula 1 career plans during the upcoming hiatus before the United States Grand Prix next month.
Audi has not yet made a decision on who will join Nico Hulkenberg as his teammate at Sauber for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
It's rumored that Bottas is the frontrunner for next year's seat, though likely on a one-year contract.
Mattia Binotto is exploring younger prospects, with McLaren's rising star Gabriele Bortoleto catching his attention.
Sauber could also tap Williams' Franco Colapinto, with James Vowles eager to facilitate an agreement.
Bottas currently occupies the bottom position in the F1 drivers' standings, having not earned any points so far this season.
The Finnish driver has been outpaced in qualifying just once by his Sauber teammate Zhou Guanyu, showcasing his remarkable speed, especially in single-lap performances.
During an interview with F1TV following the Singapore Grand Prix, Bottas shared his aspirations for the impending hiatus.
"Initially, focus on identifying the improvements aimed at Austin, which are crucial," Bottas emphasized.
"Organizing things for what's ahead is clearly at the top of my list of priorities. It's beginning to have that Christmas vibe, signaling it's nearly time, so it's crucial to get everything in order."
In Singapore, Bottas found himself surpassed by Zhou following an early race incident where he veered off course due to his brakes overheating.
Subsequently, the duo collaborated to maintain their lead over Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.
"He also mentioned that the day was not as straightforward as anticipated, and there was no assistance from the safety cars."
"At the start of the race, I encountered a problem with my brakes overheating. This caused me to lock up and consequently, I fell behind. Reflecting on the race, I honestly don't believe we would change much about our approach."
"We managed to collaborate effectively as a unit towards the race's conclusion to ensure Gasly remained behind us, which was beneficial. Therefore, I believe we achieved the best possible outcome today."
