Valentino Rossi Vows to Support Bagnaia in 2025 Showdown with Marc Marquez
Valentino Rossi plans to assist Pecco in every way he can for the 2025 competition against Marc Marquez. "Valentino has made it clear to me that he will support Pecco," he said.
Ex-MotoGP rider Alex Barros revealed that Valentino Rossi assured him he would support Francesco Bagnaia "in all possible ways" against Marc Marquez in 2025.
Current dual world champion Bagnaia will team up with Marquez at the official Ducati squad next season, following a significant shake-up in the rider market initiated by Marquez earlier this year.
The relationship is expected to be strained, as it is well-known that the VR46 team was displeased with Ducati's reversal of their decision to elevate Jorge Martin to the factory team.
This originates from Rossi's ongoing conflict with Marquez. The nine-time world champion recently expressed to L’Equipe his confusion regarding Ducati's choice.
Seven-time premier class race winner Barros recently encountered Rossi at the Sao Paulo World Endurance Championship event. He shared with Motosan that Valentino expressed strong intentions and assured him that he will support Pecco in every way he can.
"This year will be challenging, but the Italian rider's long tenure with Ducati, the two championships, and the upcoming third title, along with the advancements of the Desmosedici, will certainly be remembered."
"However, the introduction of a new rider who can shift the balance could impact the season's progression."
Barros is of the opinion that Bagnaia and Marquez "aren't truly friends," even though they seem to have a positive relationship in public. He suggests that any conflict between the two in 2025 would be advantageous for Ducati's competitors.
"Bagnaia is a member of the VR46 Academy and is aware of Rossi's views on Marquez, given their history."
"Although he might not display it openly, they are not on friendly terms. If Marc, the newcomer, manages to make a significant impact, possibly even winning, next year, it could spark a lot of debates and intense rivalry."
"Handling two riders in such a situation is challenging. While it may appear fine to the public, it will be difficult behind the scenes."
"If they begin to clash or have disagreements, Aprilia and KTM could be competitive if provided with a strong bike."
