Yamaha attended with its racing team to utilize the testing allowances granted by the current rules.
The Japanese company further revealed that former MotoGP racer Andrea Dovizioso will step in for Cal Crutchlow during the test, as the British rider is still recuperating from issues related to a recent operation.
Honda participated as well, with Joan Mir and Luca Marini joining the team.
Living near the Misano track, Rossi took advantage of the chance to get some practice laps in on his Yamaha R1, which sports his signature #46.
A common location for VR46 Academy training sessions, Rossi was accompanied by MotoGP's current points leader Francesco Bagnaia, as well as Marco Bezzecchi and Franco Morbidelli, all of whom were riding Ducati Panigale V4S bikes.
Michele Pirro was also riding Ducati's Desmosedici at the Emilia Romagna track, which is set to host two Grand Prix events in September due to the cancellation of the Kazakhstan GP.
KTM conducted tests with Dani Pedrosa, and Pedro Acosta worked on a Moto2 bike for WP Suspension, similar to the work he did recently at the Red Bull Ring.
Moto2 competitors Manuel Gonzalez and Albert Arenas participated in the event as well.
After the test, Fabio Quartararo remarked: "The Misano test is complete. We had some hectic days as we worked on comprehending and enhancing the bike."
"If anyone is offering some grip for sale, please inform me!"

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is set to take place from September 20 to 22, making its return after being absent during the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
