Trackhouse Signs Ai Ogura for MotoGP 2025: Brivio Highlights Potential and Resilience as Key Factors
Davide Brivio: Ai Ogura's Prospect of Excelling in MotoGP
"… we believe Ai possesses the qualities needed to excel as a MotoGP rider."
Davide Brivio has pointed to 'riding technique' and 'endurance in competitions' as key reasons Trackhouse chose Ai Ogura for MotoGP in 2025.
The rider from Japan, who has secured five victories in Moto2 and presently holds the second spot in the world championship standings, was chosen for the last available RS-GP spot, triumphing over his team-mate and the current leader in the title race, Sergio Garcia, as well as competitor Joe Roberts.
Seasoned MotoGP competitors like Jack Miller remain officially available for contracts.
Brivio, formerly in charge of the factory Suzuki team and known for introducing riders such as Alex Rins and Maverick Vinales to MotoGP, stated:
"Hello Ai – it's thrilling to announce that we've successfully secured the chance to kick off a new venture with Ai, recognized as one of the premier talents in the Moto2 racing category.
"His approach to riding, along with his endurance in competitions, leads us to believe that Ai possesses the qualities needed to excel as a MotoGP competitor."
"As we strive to build the Trackhouse Team into a MotoGP endeavor, our focus will also include providing Ai with the necessary resources to showcase his skills and achieve maximum growth."
"I believe that by having Raul, who is both youthful and seasoned, alongside Ai, the emerging star, Trackhouse has established a robust roster of riders for what lies ahead."
"We're looking forward to an exhilarating future, yet our immediate priority is to concentrate on our current competitions, striving to achieve the best outcomes possible before embarking on our collective journey."
Team proprietor Justin Marks mentioned that Ogura, having committed to a two-year contract, is 'prepared' for MotoGP.
"Marks expressed enthusiasm about introducing Ai Ogura, a promising young talent, to the team. He highlighted Ogura's proven dedication and readiness for success in Moto2, indicating he is prepared to advance to the MotoGP class."
"We are excited to collaborate with him and provide support as he gets acquainted with the Aprilia motorcycle and the remarkable level of competition in the world of elite international motorbike racing."
Marks emphasized the team’s global nature, despite some being taken aback that Trackhouse didn't consider 'homegrown' racer Joe Roberts, who was closely trailing Ogura in the Moto2 rankings.
"Trackhouse Racing MotoGP was established as part of the Trackhouse brand's international growth strategy."
"It's genuinely thrilling to have a lineup of athletes from Mexico, the USA, Spain, New Zealand, and now Japan represented across our teams."
Ogura, alongside returning Trackhouse team member Raul Fernandez, will be equipped with the newest factory-spec RS-GPs for the upcoming 2025 season.
