**Title:** “KTM’s Strategic Rider Shuffle: New ‘Clever’ Contracts and an Evolving 2025 MotoGP Line-Up
Fascinating hypothesis suggests KTM has the flexibility to reallocate riders as they see fit
KTM might find a unique chance in 2025 with the evolving rider scene
A hypothesis has emerged suggesting that KTM’s revamped Tech3 team could allow the flexibility to switch riders between different teams as needed.
Brad Binder, under a contract with Factory Red Bull KTM, and Pedro Acosta, set to take over from Jack Miller, will comprise KTM's factory team for the 2025 season.
Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales, as new additions, are set to join the Tech3 team. They have been assured the same equipment and support as their counterparts, essentially positioning the manufacturer with four factory riders.
Broadcast commentator Simon Crafar posed a question: "They mentioned that the other team would be KTM, which means Herve’s team will receive factory support."
"Although there won't be significant changes, the level of support will increase."
"Regarding their equipment, they have strong machinery this season. Pedro is fully equipped, and Augusto Fernandez almost has everything he needs. But that’s not the main point.
"It's about the staff and the management of the team behind the scenes."
"It's quite smart—contracts specifying 'KTM factory garage' can now refer to either garage…"
"Here's a different perspective: there are two highly sought-after bikes, but they've managed to expand that number to four."
"Many riders might be drawn to KTM's main team, but the satellite team is less appealing. By making it more attractive, they could secure four talented riders and place them strategically."
Bob Moore, the manager of Binder, has previously informed Crash.net that "Brad is under contract with Factory Red Bull KTM."
Prior to finalizing their lineup of riders for the 2025 season, KTM's motorsport director, Pit Beirer, remarked, "In our organization, we view the project as having four MotoGP slots."
“We simply examine all four locations and aim to optimize each one.”
Binder's agreement with the manufacturer extends through the end of 2026.
In an intriguing development, their roster for 2025 will feature ex-riders from Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia, including Vinales, as well as Bastianini from Ducati. Additionally, they will have KTM veteran Binder and the current newcomer Acosta.
It indicates that they will possess extensive knowledge about the other motorcycles used in MotoGP.
Crafar proposed that the final step to obtain the necessary information is to have a crew chief who has previously collaborated with the rider accompany them.
"The crew chief interprets the rider's feedback to ensure the information is accurately conveyed, preventing any misunderstandings."
Binder expressed his thoughts by stating, "What fascinates me the most, as a rider, is that they have selected one rider each from Ducati and Aprilia."
"This provides us with a much better understanding of our bike's strengths and the areas that require enhancement."
"Pedro and I are the only ones who have experience riding a KTM. Those who have ridden bikes from different manufacturers have a broader perspective on what to anticipate and what benchmarks to use."
