**Title:** “Alex Marquez Denies Deliberate Collision with Francesco Bagnaia, Asserts Integrity of MotoGP
Alex Marquez replies: “I would never intentionally collide with another competitor”
Alex Marquez denies any claims that he 'intentionally' collided with Francesco Bagnaia, stating: 'It's not in my nature, nor is it a part of this sport's nature'
Alex Marquez has issued a response after coming across certain comments following the Aragon MotoGP incident with Francesco Bagnaia last Sunday.
The two racers collided in a severe accident as Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini rider for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that no additional measures were necessary because they found that neither rider was mainly at fault.
However, Marquez appears displeased with Bagnaia's remarks indicating that the Gresini rider maintained the throttle instead of steering clear of a collision.
"Upon entering the next turn, I could hear his engine revving up. He was accelerating, clearly aiming to make contact," Bagnaia explained to MotoGP.com.
“I examined the data… He kept the throttle open at 60 percent, 40 percent up until the moment he crashed. This behavior seems quite unusual for a rider, in my opinion.”
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
"Having reviewed various statements, I want to clarify the following points:"
"I would never intentionally collide with another rider, and I refuse to be accused of such an act. It's against my principles and the very nature of this sport."
"The conversation I had with Pecco yesterday is what matters most to me, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is resolved."
"It's now time for me to relax and rejuvenate so I can be in top shape for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia were lucky to escape severe injuries and are set to return to the track at Misano this weekend.
Marc Marquez, who is Alex's teammate and brother, clinched victory in the Aragon race. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin secured second place, extending his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
