Simon Crafar remains steadfast amid MotoGP officiating changes
"Given his experience and impartiality, Simon Crafar remains unswayed by others – making him the ideal candidate"
Simon Crafar's appointment as the new head of Race Direction has received strong support.
Crafar, once a competitor and currently a MotoGP commentator, is set to assume a vital new position next year, taking over from Freddie Spencer.
MotoGP competitors have embraced him in a role that holds authority in applying the regulations.
"Simon embodies the ideal individual with his vast experience, unwavering impartiality, and resistance to influence, as Neil Hodgson expressed to TNT Sports."
"Management will be guided towards a truly positive path."
Sylvain Guintoli responded, "Openness and reliability. Simon is perfectly suited for the position."
"This role is challenging. Consistency is hard to achieve. Criticism is inevitable. It's an arduous task. However, Simon is up for the challenge."
"He has knowledge of racing, possessing numerous qualities that suggest he's the ideal candidate for the position."
"This acquisition is a significant move for the championship's prospects. Enforcing the regulations is crucial. Without adherence, the integrity of the championship suffers, which negatively impacts the audience."
"Our goal is to ensure uniformity and impartiality, allowing the drivers to compete directly on the circuit."
"They need to understand their limitations and capabilities."
Hodgson mentioned, "He's deeply concerned. His passion for our sport is immense. Above all, safety is his top priority."
MotoGP titleholder Pecco Bagnaia has cautioned that “it's not a straightforward task,” further explaining: “It stands as one of the most challenging roles within the paddock since making decisions is not simple. However, my belief is that through Simon, we can engage in effective communication with him.”
Jorge Martin stated, “I'm quite familiar with Simon and I'm aware that he continues to ride.
"He'll gain a clearer insight into the mechanics behind the bicycle's movement or the rapid pace at which changes occur.”
Crafar received a warm reception from Marc Marquez, who commented, "It's similar to being a football referee, you can't please everyone."
