Rossi Vows to Back Bagnaia Against Marquez in 2025 MotoGP Showdown: Inside the Upcoming Ducati Drama
Valentino Rossi pledges full support to Pecco in his 2025 clash with Marc Marquez
"Valentino is quite decisive and informed me about his commitment to assist Pecco"
Ex-MotoGP competitor Alex Barros mentioned that Valentino Rossi promised to support Francesco Bagnaia "by all means necessary" in his 2025 challenge against Marc Marquez.
Two-time world champion Bagnaia will team up with Marquez at Ducati's official team next season, following Marquez's significant shake-up in the rider market earlier this summer.
The relationship between the two parties is expected to be strained, as the VR46 team was clearly displeased with Ducati's sudden change of heart in opting not to elevate Jorge Martin to the factory team.
This arises from Rossi's prolonged rivalry with Marquez, where the nine-time world champion recently expressed to L’Equipe his confusion over Ducati’s choice.
Former MotoGP victor Alex Barros, who has clinched the top spot in the premier class seven times, recently had a conversation with Rossi during the World Endurance Championship event in Sao Paulo. In an interview with Motosan, Barros shared that Valentino Rossi expressed a strong commitment to assisting Pecco in all aspects.
"The upcoming year promises to be challenging, yet the significant tenure of the Italian with Ducati, including two championships and a third potentially on the horizon, as well as the advancements made with the Desmosedici, will certainly be remembered."
"The introduction of a competitor skilled enough to disrupt the balance will shift dynamics throughout the season."
Barros is of the opinion that despite their friendly appearances in public, Bagnaia and Marquez don't actually share a friendship. He suggests that should there be any discord between the two by 2025, it would only serve to benefit Ducati's competitors.
Bagnaia, a member of the VR46 Academy, is aware of Rossi's perspective on Marquez due to their past conflicts.
Therefore, despite appearances, there is no friendship between them. Should Marc, the newcomer, start to impact the scene, perhaps as soon as this winter, it would likely spark considerable debate and intensify the competition.
Handling two athletes of such caliber presents its challenges. While it may appear straightforward to the outside world, behind the scenes, it will prove difficult.
"If they begin to irritate each other or have disagreements, they might compete with Aprilia and KTM, provided they have a strong bike."
