Rins Makes a Comeback at Silverstone as Quartararo Gears Up for Second Half of MotoGP Season
Alex Rins makes a comeback at Silverstone, Quartararo declares himself 'prepared to race'
Alex Rins: “It's great to return… I'm in good shape."
Alex Rins is set to make his MotoGP comeback at Silverstone this weekend after being sidelined for the German Grand Prix because of hand injuries sustained at Assen.
Rins had an operation to fix the broken bones he suffered during the event in the Netherlands and took advantage of the summer hiatus to get back in shape for the latter part of his first season with Monster Yamaha.
Rins secured one of his most unforgettable wins by edging out Marc Marquez in a thrilling photo finish while riding for Suzuki during the 2019 British GP.
"Returning after some time off for recuperation feels great. I'm in good spirits. The break of three weeks really allowed me to gear up for the upcoming weekend. It gave me the chance to resume my training, ensuring I come to the UK fully prepared to take on the M1," Rins remarked, though his continuation with Yamaha for 2025 has not been formally announced.
"I'm eagerly anticipating the race at Silverstone. It's a circuit that I'm quite fond of, which makes me believe it's an excellent opportunity for a resurgence. Additionally, it's a crucial event for Monster Energy, and celebrating the 75th anniversary brings an additional layer of excitement to the commencement of the season's latter half."
Rins, alongside his colleague Fabio Quartararo and wild-card participant Remy Gardner, will participate with their competitors in showcasing a unique vintage-themed design for the race on Sunday.
Quartararo, currently topping the 'Japanese Cup' standings in the 15th position overall and having achieved his highest race finish of the season in seventh place, previously clinched a victory at the Silverstone MotoGP in 2021.
"After taking a break and enjoying moments with loved ones, I feel prepared to tackle the upcoming part of the season," Quartararo mentioned. "I also dedicated a significant portion of my time to training.
With 11 races yet to unfold, our focus remains unwavering as we diligently seek further improvements in the coming months. I'm eager to get started! Silverstone holds a special place for me; it's a significant occasion for both Monster Energy and MotoGP.
"I believe the supporters are going to truly appreciate the unique liveries for the 75th anniversary."
