Ricciardo’s F1 Swan Song: Frequent Team Changes and the End of an Era at Singapore Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo reflects on choices that likely hindered his Formula 1 journey
Daniel Ricciardo's journey in Formula 1 anticipated to conclude following the Singapore Grand Prix
Daniel Ricciardo has been cautioned that his habit of frequently switching teams could have been a setback for his Formula 1 career.
Ricciardo has acknowledged the possibility of being substituted by Red Bull at their affiliate team, RB, following the F1 Singapore Grand Prix.
Liam Lawson stepping in seems to mark the end of Ricciardo's journey in Formula 1.
Ricciardo snatched the quickest lap time in Singapore, aiding his ex-teammate Max Verstappen while obstructing another, Lando Norris.
"Simon Lazenby on Sky Sports commented that if his ultimate deed is to assist his longtime friend in clinching a championship, it will cement their friendship forever."
Anthony Davidson commended Ricciardo, stating, "A significant reason viewers are drawn to the sport isn't merely for the mechanical spectacle, but rather the personal aspect of who is behind the wheel, motivating the audience."
"Ricciardo has been a total delight to watch."
Lazenby inquired, "He experienced success with the main team. Had he been racing frequently alongside Max—many have struggled—would he have thrived?"
Jamie Chadwick responded, "Numerous elements have played a role in shaping the current situation."
"The vehicle has undergone significant changes since his prime. Max has evolved considerably as a driver compared to his earlier days."
"The continual shuffling of teams and the relentless assault on his mindset, particularly in his current setting, must have been detrimental."
"Everything has led up to this ultimate outcome."
"If this turns out to be his last race, I wish to see him in a different role within the paddock. He's a strong supporter of the sport."
"In my view, Liam Lawson's performance justifies his position."
Ricciardo made a significant impact during his tenure with Red Bull, competing alongside Verstappen, where he consistently showcased his ability to clinch grand prix victories.
Choosing to leave the team and switch to Renault was a poorly considered move.
At McLaren, he was subsequently outperformed by Norris and was let go by the team at the close of 2022.
Ricciardo returned to the racing scene with AlphaTauri the previous year, openly expressing his ambition to make his way back to Red Bull, a goal that has yet to come to fruition.
