Raul Fernandez Takes Responsibility for Collision with Teammate Miguel Oliveira at British MotoGP
Raul Fernandez acknowledges responsibility for collision involving Miguel Oliveira
Raul Fernandez has admitted to being at fault for the accident involving his team-mate, Miguel Oliveira.
The race had barely begun at the British MotoGP when both riders from Trackhouse were already out of contention before the completion of the first lap.
Raul Fernandez unfortunately crashed, causing his RS-GP24 motorcycle to slide into Miguel Oliveira's way.
Fernandez expressed deep regret for causing a collision with his team-mate and offered an apology to the team after the race concluded.
"Initially, I must apologize to the team," Fernandez expressed. "Upon falling, my bike made contact with Miguel, and as a result, I was responsible for Miguel's crash as well."
Truthfully, it was challenging because we encountered numerous issues with the soft, and upon lining up on the grid, we opted for the hard front.
Our decision proved correct, although initially in the race, I may have made a minor error while navigating with a full tank under the conditions of a slight drizzle.
I had an accident. Before the incident occurred, there was no contact between me and Miguel. Following the crash, it was then that my bike made contact with Miguel.
"However, there are numerous aspects I'm unable to discuss. Our collaboration was highly effective, yet personally, I experienced significant discomfort."
"The team had a significant weekend ahead, but due to my accident, they were unable to score any points."
Fernandez, who chose the hard front tire just as Aleix Espargaro did, confessed that he hadn't changed his approach from what he had been doing in the previous laps.
However, the race on Sunday experienced significantly lower temperatures and light rain, which influenced Fernandez's mistake.
Fernandez stated: My approach was quite similar, however, the tyre wasn't sufficiently warmed up, leading to my crash.
"Fernandez clarified, when questioned about visiting race control, that there was no collision with him directly. He explained that after crashing, his bike made contact with the other rider. He emphasized that it was nobody's fault."
