Quartararo’s Talent Masks Yamaha’s Challenges as Team Gears Up for Experienced 2025 Line-Up
Yamaha acknowledges Fabio Quartararo's exceptional talent masks issues
Yamaha plans to introduce two seasoned racers to its 2025 roster
Yamaha has acknowledged that Fabio Quartararo's talent and flexibility could pose challenges in pinpointing issues.
Yamaha has utilized only a pair of racing competitors in MotoGP over the course of two seasons to assist with their progress.
Quartararo's exceptional skill in handling a less-than-optimal bike can, at times, present challenges for his team members in the workshop.
"Max Bartolini, the technical director, expressed to Sky that there's a danger in having skilled riders such as Fabio, who can quickly adjust and mask issues."
"We're also making an effort to gather as much data as we can from Alex Rins once he's in good condition, as well as from other sources."
Andrea Dovizioso has joined Yamaha's test squad, filling in for the sidelined Cal Crutchlow.
Dovizioso has minimized the likelihood of staying with Yamaha on a full-time basis.
"Bartolini expressed uncertainty, questioning, 'Is Dovizioso the key to our success? It's unclear.'"
"Given that we've only conducted two tests, we need to observe how our partnership progresses."
"He is often a cyclist skilled in grasping common requirements and contributing to the creation of bicycles that, over time, have consistently shown to be satisfactory for all users."
Next season, Yamaha will benefit from two additional bikes for data collection, thanks to the inclusion of the Pramac satellite team.
They've brought on board seasoned Grand Prix champions, including Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira.
Miller, with a background at Honda, Ducati, and KTM, and Oliveira, having raced for KTM and Aprilia, both carry expertise from every one of Yamaha's competitors.
"Bartolini mentioned that he has consistently had good relationships with the riders."
"Incorporating a diverse group of riders will definitely be advantageous, and then it's our responsibility to effectively utilize their unique attributes."
"By combining all elements effectively, we stand a good chance of succeeding."
In the future, Yamaha intends to launch a V4 engine, matching the technology used by their main competitors.
