Quartararo Hails Marquez as MotoGP’s Greatest, Casting Shadow on Idol Rossi
Fabio Quartararo's choice for the greatest MotoGP rider ever is disappointing news for his hero, Valentino Rossi.
Fabio Quartararo also shares his thoughts on exchanging places with Valentino Rossi.
Fabio Quartararo refers to Valentino Rossi as his "idol," whereas he considers Marc Marquez to be "the greatest" MotoGP racer in history.
Marquez needs one more championship to match Rossi's impressive career total of nine.
The likelihood of him matching his competitor's record is expected to rise in 2025 and 2026 when he competes with the official Ducati. However, Quartararo feels he has already proven himself to be considered the best.
During an interview with TwoJeys, Quartararo expressed his admiration for Valentino but stated that, in his opinion, Marc is the greatest of all time, despite having fewer championships.
Back in 2014, he emerged victorious in the initial 10 competitions. You wonder, 'Who exactly is this person?'
Whether it's rainy, dry, windy, or under any other conditions, he always maintains impressive speed.
“He’s quite forceful, whereas I tend to be more gentle. Watching him, it feels like he’s moving at a pace that’s noticeably quicker than mine.”
Nevertheless, Quartararo emphasizes that Rossi is his role model.
"He mentioned that Rossi has always been his idol."
"I clinched the championship the same year he stepped away from the sport. Thus, I had numerous connections to my hero."
In 2021, Rossi transitioned from Yamaha’s main team to their satellite team, marking his last season before retirement.
Quartararo became the standout rider for the Yamaha factory team.
He confessed that swapping roles in 2021 added stress.
He wasn't on the official team, and 15 Italian reporters asked me, "How will you manage, since you've taken the king's spot?"
"In that particular year, I succeeded in becoming the champion."
Since the age of five, Quartararo looked up to Rossi as his idol.
"It felt unusual to encounter him and initially snap a picture," he mentioned.
"When I was around 14 or 15 years old, he extended an invitation for me to visit his ranch. I felt incredibly thrilled."
I asked, "Are we leaving at 9 AM?" He responded, "No, we'll go at 1 PM."
I got out of bed at 7 o'clock, but he didn't wake up until noon. After he had something to eat, he left the house
"Picture visiting your hero's home. Now, imagine they ask you to come back annually. It was an amazing experience."
