Pedro Acosta’s Remarkable Comeback at Aragon MotoGP: A Leap Forward from Austria’s Nightmare
Pedro Acosta expresses satisfaction with his performance at the Aragon MotoGP, highlighting the improvement from recent weeks. "We should feel content," he remarked, "given our struggles in the past few weeks, this marks a significant recovery."
Pedro Acosta's performance at the Aragon MotoGP was commendable, securing two podium finishes and demonstrating his capability to bounce back after a challenging weekend.
Acosta experienced his most challenging weekend of the season in Austria, placing 13th in the race, yet he made a comeback by securing a spot on the podium in both Aragon races.
The recently upgraded conditions at MotorLand in Aragon made Acosta cautious about drawing too many conclusions from his performance there.
"It's hard to pinpoint," Acosta conveyed during the post-race media briefing. "The conditions were unique, never really stabilizing at any point. Because of that, it's rather challenging to specify.
"Indeed, we've made significant progress from the challenging situation we faced in Austria. Our focus now shifts to how we approach Misano, and particularly how we manage the second race at Misano since it will be the first circuit I revisit on a MotoGP bike. We still have to figure out our exact standing."
Acosta believes he has progressed this weekend, though he's careful not to make assumptions based just on Aragon.
"Reflecting on the season's toughest race in Austria, it was refreshing to return to a competitive form and vie for positions," he remarked. "Indeed, today we lacked the initial race pace we had yesterday, which would have given us a greater lead. However, it's also true that managing the rear tyre today was somewhat more challenging compared to our rivals."
"Regardless, our aim was simply to remain competitive and narrow the gap with Pecco [Bagnaia] and the others. Given our challenges in the recent weeks, this progress is a reason for us to feel pleased; it's a significant rebound."
Acosta made progress by going back to a previous version of the KTM RC16.
"In conclusion, it's important to recognize that our initiative is still in its early stages," he stated. "There are occasions when we experiment extensively, and perhaps I was overthinking. It was a mix of various factors, indicating that occasionally, stepping back is necessary to make progress."
"Additionally, we returned to a familiar motorcycle, which, while not the quickest, proved to be more reliable for consistent performance. We believe this approach is worth pursuing as it seems to be an effective strategy for regaining competitiveness."
