Pedro Acosta: The Rising Star with Stoner’s Talent, Rossi’s Charisma, and Marquez’s Ambition, Says MotoGP Legends
Pedro Acosta "possesses the attributes of Stoner and Rossi, along with Marquez's determination," says MotoGP icon.
Jorge Lorenzo asserts that Pedro Acosta has significant traits in common with MotoGP icons.
The newcomer from the Tech3 GASGAS team has made a significant impact in his first year in the top-tier racing category.
Thanks to his fearless and skillful performances earlier this year, he has already secured a place on KTM’s factory team for 2025.
In an interview with DAZN, three-time MotoGP champion Lorenzo highlighted Acosta’s key characteristic: “The extensive preparation, the countless hours he has dedicated to riding motorcycles since his childhood, including on larger bikes.
"People his age typically have trained and prepared for either half or even a third of the hours he has."
"I have just one suggestion for him: watch out for accidents, as a severe injury might end a career abruptly."
"He possesses the traits of Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi, especially their charisma."
"Additionally, Marc Marquez's drive and self-confidence."
Dani Pedrosa, who currently serves as KTM’s test rider, mentioned that each time the rider has switched categories, he has acknowledged feeling increasingly at ease.
"He is accustomed to handling tiny circuits while dealing with large motorcycles."
All the factory employees are thrilled with its results; it’s exactly what KTM required.
"With additional experience gained over the next year, he will advance to a higher level."
"During pre-season, I advised him to handle the tires cautiously, as they can be unpredictable and might result in a hospital visit."
This year, Acosta secured a place on the MotoGP podium, making him the third-youngest rider to do so.
He has already proven to be the quickest rider for KTM.
His upcoming goal is to secure his first victory, a feat that Lorenzo inaccurately forecasted would occur at Jerez.
MotoGP is set to come back next weekend at Silverstone, but KTM has faced a challenging time recently, with even Acosta's performance declining.
