Pedro Acosta Secures Podium in Aragon MotoGP Sprint Despite Errors; Reflects on Lessons and Mentorship with Dani Pedrosa
Pedro Acosta secured a podium finish in the Aragon MotoGP Sprint, achieving third place despite making some errors. This marks his first podium since the race in Italy.
Pedro Acosta secured a third-place spot in the Aragon MotoGP Sprint, marking his first podium finish since earning another third place in the Italian Sprint at the start of June.
For Acosta and KTM, it marked a step forward from Friday, when none of the four RC16s managed to secure a spot in the top 10 during Practice.
In an interview with MotoGP.com, he mentioned how challenging it was to advance to Q2 yesterday and expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made today.
The young Spaniard acknowledged that there was some room for improvement. He stated, "We need to analyze the errors I made during the race, such as my issues at turn eight and my struggles at the start where I experienced significant wheel spin. Let's see what we can achieve tomorrow."
During the most recent race in Austria, Acosta experienced one of his poorest performances of the season, ending the race beyond the top 10 positions. Afterward, he traveled to Misano to test a Moto2 bike, coinciding with Dani Pedrosa's testing of the KTM RC16.
Acosta mentioned that he and Pedrosa had discussions about various topics, focusing on life experiences rather than motorcycles.
"I hadn't enjoyed a dinner like this in a long time; I'm still delighted to have shared it with him."
"In the end, he's a person with extensive experience and arguably one of the smartest riders I've encountered in my career. It's always valuable to pay attention to him and see what insights we can gain from him."
As he looks ahead to Sunday's Grand Prix, Acosta anticipates a different experience compared to the Sprint.
"Indeed, it will be different, and the selection of tires will play a crucial role in this," he mentioned. "We’ll see what we end up choosing."
