Pedro Acosta Clinches Podium in Aragon MotoGP Sprint Amidst Challenges
Pedro Acosta secured a podium finish at the Aragon MotoGP Sprint, achieving third place despite acknowledging errors. This marks his first podium since the race in Italy.
Pedro Acosta secured a podium finish by coming in third at the Aragon MotoGP Sprint, marking his first return to the podium since achieving third place at the Italian Sprint in early June.
For Acosta and KTM, this marked progress from Friday, as all four RC16s had failed to make it into the top 10 during Practice.
"In conclusion, observe the difficulty we faced yesterday in advancing to Q2 and the significant progress we made today; accomplishing that was quite satisfying," he shared with MotoGP.com.
Nonetheless, there was room for improvement for the young Spaniard. "We have to analyze the errors I made throughout the race," he mentioned, "such as in turn eight or the excessive spinning at the start. With this in mind, let's see what progress we can make by tomorrow."
In the recent Austrian race, Acosta experienced one of his most challenging performances of the year, ending up not making it into the top 10. Following that, he participated in a Moto2 bike trial at Misano, alongside Dani Pedrosa, who was evaluating the KTM RC16.
"Acosta mentioned, 'Pedrosa and I engaged in conversations on various topics, focusing not on motorcycles but on life experiences.'"
"I haven't enjoyed a meal like this in ages, and I'm truly glad to share this dinner with him."
"In conclusion, he's an individual with extensive experience, and in my opinion, one of the smartest riders I've encountered in my career. It's always crucial to pay attention to his insights and understand what lessons we can draw from him."
Anticipating Sunday's Grand Prix, Acosta foresees a departure from the usual Sprint format.
"Definitely, it's going to change things, and choosing the right tyres will be crucial," he mentioned. "We'll see what decision we make."
