Pecco Bagnaia Warns Marc Marquez: ‘Mental Games Are Useless With Me’ – Ducati’s Star Duo Ready for a Fiery 2025 Showdown
Pecco Bagnaia issues a warning to Marc Marquez, stating, "Psychological tactics won't work on me…"
"We recognize his skill. However, he's just like Martin."
Pecco Bagnaia has advised Marc Marquez to refrain from engaging in mind games when they are both in the Ducati garage.
Marquez was chosen to join Ducati's official team for 2025, securing a spot on one of the most sought-after bikes in the sport, alongside Bagnaia.
The choice prompted Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and the Pramac team to leave Ducati in search of new opportunities.
However, Ducati's official team now boasts a pair of high-profile riders, though there's a potential for rivalry as they compete for the championship.
Bagnaia was questioned about whether he has started to think about the experience of having Marquez as a teammate.
In an interview with TNT Sports, he mentioned, "I will begin considering it next year. We are aware of his abilities."
"However, he's just as quick as Martin. It's crucial to maintain a good working relationship and a positive environment in the team."
"On the racetrack, it's a different story—you need to compete against your teammate."
Bagnaia received a caution regarding the distinct mental tactics Marquez might employ against him. Is this something he has taken into account?
Bagnaia asserted that there isn't much to it. He emphasized that his mental fortitude is his greatest strength and that psychological tactics don't work on him.
Michael Laverty from TNT Sports remarked, "It's widely understood that you mustn't allow Marc to rattle you."
"The individual in the garage is Pecco. When Marc shows up, Pecco will aim to assert his authority. Although Pecco may seem reserved, he has an aggressive side as well."
This season, a championship contest is developing as Bagnaia and Marquez compete on different bikes.
Bagnaia is currently at the top of the MotoGP standings as the series prepares to resume next weekend at Silverstone.
After winning three of the last four races in the past two rounds, he leads Martin by 10 points and is 56 points ahead of Marquez, who is in third place.
The MotoGP champion, who has won the title twice, emphasizes that winning has never been more challenging: "The competition is tougher than ever."
"On average, we're about six to seven tenths of a second quicker at each circuit. Martin is performing exceptionally well, and Marc is also delivering strong results."
"Acosta, Vinales, and several other riders in the latter part of the championship feel more liberated to race now that their contracts are secured."
Significantly, championship hopeful Martin will continue the season aware that he won't be remaining with Ducati.
The Pramac rider was passed over for the 2025 official team in favor of Marquez and has instead signed with Aprilia for next year.
This opens up the chance for him to bring the top ranking to Ducati's competing Italian brand.
When questioned about whether Martin would come back with even greater determination, Bagnaia responded by praising Jorge, saying: "Jorge is an exceptionally skilled rider. His braking abilities are outstanding."
"Next season, he will excel with Aprilia because his riding technique is a perfect match for their motorcycle. He will do everything he can to take my top spot."
However, the current leader of the championship is Bagnaia, who has won the title two years in a row.
TNT Sports' Sylvain Guintoli described Pecco as a quiet yet deadly force.
“He remains composed and unflustered. During the clash with Marquez in Jerez, he doesn’t shy away from physical confrontation.
"Next year's competition is set to be exciting. It will be interesting to observe Pecco's response if Marquez defeats him, and how Marquez will react if the roles are reversed."
