Yamaha announces new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio is set to take over the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to take over Lin Jarvis' position at Yamaha.
Starting January 1, 2025, Pavesio is set to take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
He had earlier held the position of Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, where he reorganized the motorsport department, leading it to secure world championships in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio will take over from Jarvis, who has led Yamaha for 26 years and is stepping down.
Under Jarvis's leadership, Yamaha secured eight rider championships, six manufacturer championships, and seven team championships. He managed the peak years of the Japanese company with stars like Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and also guided them to their latest championship with Fabio Quartararo.
Even though Jarvis is stepping down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor to Yamaha.
Takahiro Sumi, who manages the Motor Sports Development Division, expressed his gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments over the last 26 years, speaking both personally and on Yamaha's behalf.
His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a crucial role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future.
Paolo Pavesio is set to take over the position of Managing Director from Lin. Pavesio's extensive background includes his tenure at YME, where he served as the Marketing and Motorsport Director. During his time there, he led Yamaha teams to secure World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
"I am eager to have Paolo join YMR this January, and I believe that with his guidance, Yamaha can achieve the future victories in MotoGP that we are all aiming for."
