Yamaha announces new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio set to take over the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to take over Lin Jarvis' role at Yamaha.
On January 1, 2025, Pavesio is set to take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
Before, he held the position of Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, where he revamped the motorsport department. Under his leadership, the division went on to secure world championships in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio is set to take over from Jarvis, who has led Yamaha for 26 years.
Jarvis guided Yamaha to achieve eight rider championships, six manufacturer championships, and seven team championships. He managed the peak periods for the Japanese company with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and also led them to their latest championship victory with Fabio Quartararo.
Even though Jarvis is stepping down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor to Yamaha.
"On a personal note and representing Yamaha, I wish to express my gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments over the last 26 years," stated Takahiro Sumi, the General Manager of the Motor Sports Development Division.
His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a key role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future.
Paolo Pavesio will take over the position of Managing Director from Lin. Pavesio has extensive experience from his time at YME, where he served as the Marketing and Motorsport Director, leading Yamaha teams to victory in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP World Championships.
"I am excited about Paolo joining YMR in January and believe that with his leadership, Yamaha has the potential to achieve the future MotoGP success we are all aiming for."
