Oliveira’s Cautious Optimism and Aprilia’s Strong Showing at Aragon MotoGP Practice
Miguel Oliveira maintains a reserved stance despite securing the 10th spot in the Aragon MotoGP practice session
Despite Aprilia experiencing a positive day at the Aragon MotoGP, Trackhouse's Miguel Oliveira remains tempered in his enthusiasm.
Miguel Oliveira secured a position in the top ten during the practice session at the Aragon MotoGP, finishing with a gap to spare.
The rider from Portugal mentioned that despite his satisfaction in advancing directly to Q2 after the practice session at MotorLand, he believes there is still potential for enhancement in his connection with the motorcycle.
"Being in Q2 by Friday definitely felt rewarding," Oliveira shared with MotoGP.com. "Even though I wasn't comfortable with the bike, there are still a few aspects that prevent me from maintaining a steady pace.
"The pace was somewhat present, yet we found ourselves in 10th position, lagging by a second. Thus, while there's a sense of satisfaction, it's tempered by the realization that there's considerable effort required before tomorrow."
"We're pleased to have wrapped up the practice session and have a clear path forward. I'm looking forward to hitting the track tomorrow morning to put in some effort before the qualifiers."
Raul Fernandez, who is part of the Trackhouse Aprilia team alongside Oliveira, had a more overtly hopeful outlook following his performance at MotorLand on Friday, securing an eighth-place finish, one spot ahead of Oliveira.
"Today was a really good day for us," he remarked. "We need to keep going on our path and get a better grasp of the bike. Now is the moment to refrain from overthinking or stressing; it's time to focus and gain insights."
"After completing the Misano test, our goal is to thoroughly review all aspects and determine the best path forward with the new motorcycle. Switching bikes mid-season presents challenges, yet I remain very pleased."
"Today left me genuinely amazed, as the issues I usually face with this bike seemed non-existent."
"I believe I was quick and capable of riding as I desired, indicating we've done a solid job. This applies not just to the time trial but also to my general comfort and pace with the motorcycle, making today an exceptionally good day for both myself and Aprilia."
