Norris Triumphs in Singapore Amid Rear Wing Controversy, Shrugs Off Rival Complaints
Lando Norris Claims McLaren Remains Unbeaten Despite Adjustments Following Competitors' Grievances
Lando Norris Criticizes Competing Teams for Objecting to McLaren's F1 Rear Wing.
Lando Norris stated that McLaren experienced one of their "most commanding" displays during the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, despite the disputes over their rear wing.
Although the wing, which had been observed bending at high speeds during the last race in Baku, cleared the FIA’s inspections, McLaren has been instructed to alter the part following grievances from competing teams.
Norris launched a verbal jab at McLaren's competitors following his commanding win in Singapore, which narrowed the championship lead of his main competitor, Max Verstappen, to 52 points with six races left in the season.
"Norris mentioned that there have been no alterations to the vehicle from this point back to last weekend or the weekend prior."
"We've had to adjust a few of our wings and other aspects that received complaints. Nevertheless, we've experienced an incredible weekend, likely one of our most commanding ones here."
"I honestly believe that wasn't the deciding factor. The reality is, the car has been performing exceptionally well for quite some time. Despite feeling like I had the speed and capability, I haven't managed to secure a win in several instances. Admittedly, some of that can be attributed to my own mistakes and not managing to execute properly.
"Therefore, I've suffered the consequences for not always performing up to par. However, when I manage to take the lead after the first turn and circumstances become somewhat simpler, we can experience a day like the one we had today."
Norris had complete control over Sunday's grand prix, though he narrowly escaped two collisions with the barriers, the initial encounter slightly damaging his front wing.
"The group mentioned a potential issue with the front wing, suggesting it might be slightly misaligned. I collided with the barrier using the front wing, which could have altered it slightly, though I doubt it had a significant impact," he clarified.
"However, it's difficult to ascertain. With these vehicles, even a minor adjustment can lead to significant changes, although it might not have been something I was consciously aware of."
