Mixed Fortunes for Trackhouse Aprilia: Oliveira’s 10th Place Shows Room for Improvement, While Fernandez Shines in Aragon MotoGP Practice
Miguel Oliveira "not entirely satisfied" with 10th place in Aragon MotoGP practice
Aprilias had a good performance at the Aragon MotoGP, a sentiment shared by Trackhouse, but Miguel Oliveira remains grounded.
Miguel Oliveira secured 10th place during the practice session at the Aragon MotoGP, finishing with a comfortable gap.
The Portuguese racer stated that, although he was pleased to advance directly into Q2 from practice at MotorLand, he still sees potential to enhance his connection with the bike.
In an interview with MotoGP.com, Oliveira expressed his satisfaction at making it to Q2 on Friday. He admitted, however, that he did not feel entirely comfortable with the bike and mentioned that certain issues were preventing him from maintaining a consistent pace.
"The pace was almost right, but I ended up in 10th place, trailing by a second. I'm pleased, yet I can't be overly satisfied since there's still much to accomplish before tomorrow."
"We're pleased to have wrapped up the practice and have a clear sense of our next steps. Looking forward to hitting the track tomorrow morning and getting some work in before the qualifying round."
Oliveira’s teammate from Trackhouse Aprilia, Raul Fernandez, seemed more openly positive about his Friday performance at MotorLand, ending the day in ninth place, one spot ahead of Oliveira.
"Today's performance was very encouraging for us," he remarked. "We must keep following our path and gain a better understanding of the bike. At this moment, it's crucial not to overthink or stress; it's a time for effort and comprehension."
"Our objective is to thoroughly evaluate everything following the Misano test to determine the best approach for us with this new motorcycle. Although making changes to the bike mid-season is challenging, I am still very pleased."
"Today I was truly amazed because the issue I usually face with this bike didn't seem to be a problem at all."
The rider expressed satisfaction with his speed and control on the bike, saying they accomplished a solid performance. He felt confident not only during the time attack but also in maintaining a consistent pace, making it a highly successful day for both himself and Aprilia.
