Miguel Oliveira Eyes Pramac Yamaha Move as Aprilia Exit Looms for 2025 MotoGP Season
Miguel Oliveira indicates a high chance he will not be with Aprilia for the 2025 MotoGP season, with Pramac Yamaha looking like a tempting option.
Miguel Oliveira appears poised to be the third Aprilia MotoGP competitor to exit the team after this season concludes.
The champion of the KTM race is in his sophomore year with the RS-GP, competing under the newly named Trackhouse team.
While his teammate Raul Fernandez has extended his contract until 2026, Oliveira is strongly rumored to lead the upcoming Pramac Yamaha initiative.
"Right now, it seems highly likely that I won't be on an Aprilia bike next year," Oliveira shared with MotoGP.com.
"We're looking forward to reaching a resolution shortly."
In response to whether Pramac Yamaha appears appealing, the Portuguese responded, "Absolutely, it does! Exceptionally appealing!"
"We're making headway, albeit slowly. I'm optimistic we'll be able to discuss it in the near future."
Over the weekend, in a press briefing, Oliveira announced his intention to mimic his remarkable performance at Sachsenring by maintaining a stable set-up and concentrating on the electronics aspect.
"Oliveira expressed his desire to leverage his front-row qualifying and finishes between 2nd and 6th place in Germany into more consistent performance."
"We're focusing on minimizing alterations to the motorcycle itself and concentrating heavily on enhancing the electronics. We're optimistic this strategy will prove effective here as well. Let's find out."
Oliveira is set to receive an aerodynamic enhancement: "With modifications to the fairing's sides, we anticipate that it will provide us with an additional boost."
However, he remains unable to operate the unique integrated rear brake/clutch lever employed by Maverick Vinales, which aids in braking when entering right-hand turns.
"Absolutely not feasible!" exclaimed Oliveira. "However, we're attempting to come up with another solution…"
