McLaren’s Meteoric Rise: Lando Norris’ Pace Puts Red Bull on Notice as Rosberg Analyzes F1 Singapore GP and Verstappen’s Title Challenge
Lando Norris' speed "likely to unsettle Red Bull" as important statistic surfaces
Nico Rosberg reviews F1 Singapore Grand Prix
Max Verstappen is set to clinch the F1 championship if he secures second place in all remaining races, with Lando Norris finishing first.
Despite Norris's dominant performance at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Verstappen maintains a 52-point lead at the top of the championship standings.
However, considering the statistics, it seems more probable that Norris will win each remaining race this year compared to the likelihood of Verstappen consistently finishing right behind him.
Nico Rosberg commented on Sky Sports, emphasizing that the highlight of the day was not just the victory, but also the performance and speed.
"Red Bull will likely be worried about that."
"Given this pace through the end of the year, it's plausible that Lando could secure victories in the remaining races."
“It is incredibly challenging for Max to finish in second place.”
McLaren has demonstrated that they currently have the quickest car in Formula 1 following yet another commanding performance.
There are still unresolved issues regarding whether they ought to have prioritized Norris as their top driver earlier in the season to enhance his chances for the title.
Rosberg has a different opinion: "It was too early to put Oscar Piastri at a disadvantage. He still has a chance in the championship, and mathematically, he can win if circumstances favor him."
“At a certain moment, they will enforce team directives.”
Jamie Chadwick commented on Piastri, who secured a podium finish in Singapore, stating, "There is a delicate balance between him supporting Lando and him perceiving himself as a second-tier driver."
"McLaren must avoid making him feel like he's inferior to Lando, because he isn't."
McLaren CEO Zak Brown reviewed the race, saying there were a few near-misses. He mentioned that Lando Norris approached him in parc ferme and asked if he saw him hit the wall. Brown replied that he had noticed it happening a few times.
"What an incredible drive. The race car that the entire team at McLaren, both men and women, have created is truly remarkable."
“Oscar’s driving was exceptional, making it nearly an ideal weekend.”
Brown commented on McLaren's recent superiority over Red Bull, stating, "All aspects have aligned perfectly. The car's development has been successfully integrated."
"We have significant momentum right now, but we're aware of how fast things can change in this sport."
