Maverick Vinales comments on the incident with Marco Bezzecchi: 'I believe the officials are aware'
The Aprilia racer shares his perspective on the frightening collision during the Australia MotoGP sprint race.
Maverick Vinales, who described himself as feeling "sore," mentioned that he has had a discussion with MotoGP's stewards regarding his clash with Marco Bezzecchi during the Australian Grand Prix sprint, and he believes they now comprehend the situation.
Vinales, after securing a third-place start on the front row, overtook Bezzecchi to claim fifth position just before they reached the braking area of Turn 1 at Phillip Island during the second-to-last lap of the sprint race.

Vinales does not have any broken bones, but he will receive anti-inflammatory medication. Meanwhile, Bezzecchi was transported to the hospital for evaluations, yet it seems he, too, avoided any fractures.
The review of the incident is ongoing; however, it has been postponed to Sunday because Bezzecchi is unable to be present for his hearing with the stewards.
Vinales refrained from explicitly stating that the VR46 rider ought to face a penalty. However, he hinted that this is the course of action the stewards should consider following their discussion.
He expressed to motogp.com that he was experiencing significant soreness.
"It's clear that the pain is increasing. This is expected given the severity of the crash. I hit the gravel at a very high speed."
Fortunately, the helmet did its job effectively. I am also grateful to Arai and Alpinestars for their products, as they always ensure a high level of safety, which is excellent.
"It seems like nothing is fractured, but there's a lot of pain, particularly in the hand and arms."
"From my perspective, it seemed like he attempted to pass me again right after I had passed him."
"Clearly, I knew I couldn't go over the boundary, so I slowed down to give him some room."
"It seems likely that he misjudged the point where he should have applied the brakes, and as a result, he ended up right on top of me when he finally
"The stewards have to determine the point of the incident. I thoroughly clarified the situation to them, and I believe they grasp it."
"They were paying attention, which is crucial, so we'll find out what happens next. We were anticipating… fortunately, we're both fine and ready to compete in the race tomorrow."
Fernandez earns highest Aprilia recognition in sprint race
Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Racing preserved Aprilia's reputation in the sprint event. After Vinales had to exit the race, Fernandez managed to secure seventh place at the finish line, following his sixth-place qualification.
Due to a tire pressure penalty imposed on VR46's Fabio Di Giannantonio, Fernandez was moved up to sixth place, achieving his top sprint finish of the year.
The Spaniard acknowledges that he benefited from "a small amount of luck" but commended Trackhouse for bouncing back after a challenging Friday, noting that the team effectively "lost a day" while in Australia.
"We indeed had an excellent day," stated Fernandez.
"It is indeed true that we experienced some good fortune, as we ended up in 10th place and benefited from a few accidents to earn points. Nonetheless, our performance was strong and commendable."
"Yesterday posed significant challenges for our team, essentially resulting in a lost day. However, we managed to bounce back effectively."
"Indeed, today during the sprint was my first experience using the hard front tire."
"I essentially completed the sprint to gather information for the following day, and I also worked on the rear in the process."
"The main goal was to gain experience for the next day and understand how the tires feel, rather than focusing on scoring any points."
