**”Martin Triumphs at Mandalika: Acosta Impresses, Nakagami Penalized in Dramatic 2024 Indonesian MotoGP”**
2024 Indonesian MotoGP at Mandalika – Updated Race Results Due to Tyre Pressure Penalty
The race outcomes from the Indonesian MotoGP held in Mandalika, which is the 15th round out of 20 in the 2024 world championship, have been revised following a penalty
Pedro Acosta, who finished in second place, Brad Binder, who came in eighth, and Takaaki Nakagami, who secured the eleventh position, were all scrutinized for possibly having low tire pressure following the race.
Acosta was exonerated because of a 'leaking wheel rim.' Initially, the FIM Stewards announced that 'no action will be taken at this time' for Binder and Nakagami, stating that 'Due to the nature of the post-race technical checks, the results will be released at the next event.'
In a subsequent update on Sunday, the Stewards announced that the technical inspections were finished. Binder was found to be in compliance, but Nakagami was confirmed to have committed a violation and was handed a 16-second penalty after the race.
Luckily for the LCR rider, just Alex Rins ended up behind him, causing him to lose just one position…

Jorge Martin redeems himself for his Sprint race mistake by securing a start-to-finish win at the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP in Mandalika.
However, the Pramac Ducati racer encountered unexpected competition from newcomer Pedro Acosta during the middle of the race and was at risk of being overtaken by Enea Bastianini.
The Italian rider made an impressive surge to nearly catch up with Acosta, but unfortunately crashed at Turn 1 with 7 laps remaining.
For a large portion of the race, Marco Bezzecchi, Enea Bastianini, and defending champion Francesco Bagnaia were stuck behind Franco Morbidelli, who is Martin's teammate.
With five laps remaining, Bagnaia successfully overtook Morbidelli, securing third place. This maneuver allowed Martin, who celebrated by breaking his screen, to extend his championship lead to 21 points.
Bastianini became the ninth name on an extensive list of riders who did not finish, which also featured Marc Marquez. Marquez's Gresini bike encountered a severe technical problem that resulted in a fire.
Martin launched quickly from the start and successfully maneuvered through Turn 16 on the first lap.
Acosta, positioned behind, overtook Bastianini to secure second place. Though he couldn't keep pace with Martin for the first ten laps, he experienced a revival midway through the race, distancing himself from the battle for third place.
Beginning from the second row, Sprint victor Bagnaia lifted his front wheel repeatedly at the start and quickly found himself in sixth place.
Maverick Vinales secured a solitary sixth place for Aprilia, followed by Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, while Johann Zarco met his goal of placing within the top ten for Honda.
Both Bezzecchi and his VR46 teammate di Giannantonio were sporting a unique red-and-white livery inspired by the Indonesian flag.
Miguel Oliveira did not attend after suffering a broken right wrist, which occurred during a highside on Friday morning due to a traction control failure.
New regulations for tyre pressure in 2024 stipulate that riders must maintain a front tyre pressure above 1.8 bar (down from the previous 1.88 bar) for at least 60% of the race distance in a Grand Prix, and for 30% of the distance in a Sprint race.
If a driver does not achieve the minimum requirements in a Grand Prix, they will receive a time penalty of 16 seconds added after the race. For a Sprint or short race, the penalty is reduced to 8 seconds.
The MotoGP event in Motegi, Japan, kicks off on Friday.
