Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix as Bagnaia’s Title Hopes Slide in Dramatic Crash
At the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez showcased an impressive performance, leading from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended in a collision with Alex Marquez.
In a stunning display at the Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez secured his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, clinching the victory with remarkable dominance.
Dominating from the start to the finish, Marquez showcased remarkable speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin widened his lead in the championship to 23 points by securing second place, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after a collision with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making significant progress through the pack, having initially lost traction with his rear tyre on the less clean side of the starting grid. He quickly moved up from seventh position at the outset, advancing to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, then to fifth as Franco Morbidelli veered off course, and finally into fourth after inducing an error from Pedro Acosta at turn 16.
Several circuits were completed in the effort to overtake Marques after he veered off course at the twelfth turn, which gave Bagnaia the opportunity to pass him entering the thirteenth turn. However, during this maneuver, Bagnaia and Marquez collided as they entered turn 13, causing both to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, although there has been no further information released regarding his status.
The collision between the two riders elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the race leader.
Brad Binder secured a fourth-place finish, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth position from a 14th-place start. Franco Morbidelli followed in sixth place, surpassing Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10 standings.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales decided to retire from the race as well.
After the race, inquiries were initiated concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez regarding the pressure of their front tyres.
