Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix Amid Drama as Bagnaia and Alex Marquez Crash Out
Marc Marquez showcased his supremacy throughout the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, leading from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix for MotoGP, Marc Marquez clinched his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving the victory with remarkable dominance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased impressive speed and ultimately secured victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after colliding with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress through the ranks, having initially struggled with his rear tyre spinning out from an unfavorable position on the grid. He started off in seventh place, then climbed to sixth when Miguel Oliveira crashed, moved up to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and ascended to fourth after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
After completing several circuits, the chase was on to overtake Marques, who veered off course at the twelfth turn, creating an opportunity for Bagnaia to pass him as they approached the thirteenth turn. However, during the maneuver into turn 13, Bagnaia and Marquez collided, causing both to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, however, there has been no new information released regarding his health status.
The interaction between the pair elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed up to fifth place from a 14th-place start. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, completing the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales also withdrew from the race.
Following the race, probes were initiated concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues related to the pressure of their front tires.
