Marquez Reignites Championship Hopes with Dominant Aragon Victory as Bagnaia Crashes Out
In an impressive showing, Marc Marquez led from start to finish in the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, overshadowing the event as Pecco Bagnaia suffered a crash involving Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix for MotoGP, Marc Marquez secured his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving the victory with a commanding lead.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased incredible speed and ultimately secured victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by securing second place, following Francesco Bagnaia's exit from the race after a collision with Alex Marquez, who also went down in the incident.
Bagnaia was making significant progress through the pack after starting off on the less clean part of the track, which caused his rear tyre to spin. He initially found himself in seventh place at the beginning, moved up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's crash, then advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and finally claimed the fourth spot after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
Several circuits were completed in the pursuit of Marques, who veered off course at the twelfth turn, giving Bagnaia the opportunity to overtake him entering the thirteenth turn. However, as Bagnaia was making his move into turn 13, he collided with Marquez, causing both riders to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical facility, but there has been no information released regarding his status.
The collision between the two racers advanced Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds away from the victor.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth place, making a significant recovery from a 14th-place start. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top ten.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, while Maverick Vinales decided to retire from the race as well.
Following the race, probes were initiated into Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez concerning the pressure of their front tyres.
