Marc Marquez Triumphs in Aragon Grand Prix Amid Drama as Bagnaia Exits After Crash
In a commanding performance at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez led from start to finish, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended in a crash involving Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix in MotoGP, Marc Marquez secured his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving this feat with a commanding performance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased outstanding speed and ultimately secured the victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing in second place, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash during a collision with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia was making his way up the ranks, overcoming an initial setback caused by his rear tyre spinning on the unclean part of the starting grid. He found himself in seventh position at the beginning, then climbed to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, advanced to fifth after Franco Morbidelli went off track, and reached fourth place by pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
After completing several circuits, the pursuit was on to overtake Marques following his misjudgment at turn 12, which provided Bagnaia with an opportunity to pass as they approached turn 13. However, during the maneuver into turn 13, Bagnaia and Marquez collided, resulting in both riders crashing.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, but there has been no information released regarding his current state.
The collision between them elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured a fourth-place finish, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth from a 14th place start. Franco Morbidelli took the sixth spot, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales also withdrew from the race.
Investigations were initiated after the race concerning Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues with the pressure of their front tires.
