Marc Marquez Eyes Triumph Amid 1,000-Day Victory Drought: “Victory Will Arrive
Marc Marquez: The three-year hiatus from a MotoGP triumph 'is insignificant'
Marc Marquez: "A win – if not this season, is bound to happen the next."
More than three years have passed, equating to over 1,000 days, since Marc Marquez last celebrated victory at a MotoGP event, which occurred at the 2021 Emilia Romagna (Misano) round.
Securing his 60th MotoGP win remains the final significant achievement yet to be reached in Marquez's comeback season with Gresini Ducati, during which he has achieved second place three times, with two of those finishes being by a margin of less than half a second.
On Sunday in Austria, Marquez missed another opportunity, a weekend he described as "one of the best".
The eight-time global champion secured a spot in the front row but had to begin the race without his front ride-height mechanism activated, subsequently collided with Franco Morbidelli at the first turn, and ultimately managed to secure a fourth-place finish.
Having secured a deal with factory Ducati for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, Marquez emphasizes that this year is focused on development, confident that success is on the horizon for the following year.
"Marquez stated that his current streak without wins doesn't concern him. He views this year as a period for growth, emphasizing that he is in the process of building.
"I attempted to proceed gradually. Indeed, we commenced the season on a high note, then it appeared as though we regressed, and now it seems we are making a comeback."
"For the latter half of the season, our goal is to continue our progress and aim for podium finishes."
"And the triumph – if not achieved this year, will surely come the next."
Since his debut in the MotoGP in 2013 with Repsol Honda, Marquez maintained an average of eight victories per season up until he suffered an arm injury at Jerez in 202
He secured his last trio of victories riding an RC213V in the 2021 season at Sachsenring, COTA, and Misano tracks.
Marquez currently holds the fourth spot in the world championship, leading the next highest-ranked GP23 rider by five positions.
