Marc Marquez Eyes 2025 Glory with Factory Ducati, But Faces Formidable Challenge from Pecco Bagnaia
Speculation suggests that Marc Marquez will "show up next year and outperform everyone!"
"He likely believes that his main goal this year was to secure the factory bike."
It has been proposed that Marc Marquez might already be focusing on the year 2025.
Next season, the Gresini rider will be promoted to the official Ducati factory team, which is significant as it means he will upgrade from an older model to the latest bike.
If Marquez were equipped with the same machinery as the current factory star Pecco Bagnaia, their competition could reach unprecedented heights.
This season, after 11 races, Marquez has yet to secure a victory in either a sprint or a grand prix. He currently trails the championship leader, Bagnaia, by 83 points.
"He dedicated a significant amount of effort to avoiding pressure and high expectations," Alex Lowes mentioned to TNT Sport while in Austria last weekend.
"Isn't it Marc Marquez? He definitely wants to come out on top against them, right? That competitive spirit has been evident since the season began."
"I believe he's under pressure, as he's making errors during practice."
“He is likely considering that his primary goal for this year was to secure the factory bike.
“He’s planning to focus on his own well-being, show up next year, and outperform everyone!”
"It wouldn't shock you. He's just that kind of person with that kind of ability."
Nonetheless, Marquez has been cautioned that donning red in 2025 and riding Ducati’s newest motorcycle does not assure a win.
He will team up with Bagnaia, who is in exceptional form right now after winning both races last weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
Neil Hodgson commented on Pecco's improvement, noting that he has already secured two world championships and is on track to potentially claim a third early next year, highlighting that he is currently at the peak of his career.
"Marc will compete directly against him in the same team. We are aware that Marc is not at his peak performance."
"It may not be as certain as many have believed…"
Lowes remarked, "Pecco is tenacious. Whenever he makes an error, he quickly recovers and takes the lead."
"If Marc continues to make mistakes on his own, like he did in Germany and at Silverstone, he won't be able to catch up to Pecco. Valentino will definitely be putting pressure on Pecco!"
Hodgson highlighted a key instance that demonstrates Bagnaia's drive to compete this year.
"He mentioned that Pecco had an accident during the final lap of the sprint race in Barcelona."
"The following day, he assumed the lead at the very turn where he had previously crashed."
"The unwavering self-assurance and mental fortitude required to accomplish that is truly remarkable. It exemplifies the qualities of a genuine champion."
Next weekend, MotoGP heads back to Aragon, where Marquez will once more compete in pursuit of his first victory riding a Ducati.
