**Marc Marquez Breaks Three-Year Victory Drought with Perfect Aragon MotoGP Weekend: “I Put Pressure on Myself”**
Marc Marquez admitted he "put pressure on himself" to achieve a "flawless" performance at the Aragon MotoGP event.
"I didn't enjoy the Sprint because I was aware that today was crucial," he said.
Last weekend at the Aragon MotoGP, Marc Marquez broke his nearly three-year stretch without a win, describing the event as "perfect".
Marquez led all three practice rounds, secured the pole position with a lead of 0.8 seconds, claimed a commanding victory in the Sprint, and finished Sunday's Grand Prix five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
The only session where Marquez did not finish on top was the Warm Up, which was damp due to rain that fell overnight on Saturday and continued into Sunday morning, as he did not complete a lap.
During the press conference following the race, Marquez described the weekend as "perfect." He mentioned that they were leading in all sessions except for the Warm Up, where he and his team chose to remain in the garage.
Marquez discussed the emotional journey he experienced during the nearly three-year period without a win and the sense of relief he felt when he crossed the finish line to secure his 60th victory in the top-tier category.
“In the race, we experienced an incredible sensation right from the start,” he stated. “The race was extremely long, and it was challenging to manage our emotions during the final laps, but crossing the finish line felt like shedding 3-4kg.”
"Due to my back feeling progressively heavier, winning this was an amazing achievement. Right away, I began reflecting on the entire journey, thinking about everyone who supported me, including my family, my girlfriend, and my brother, Alex Marquez."
“They provided me with significant assistance, and the Gresini team, in particular, offered me a chance. I am approaching this as a rookie, aiming to give my all, and we succeeded. We have set new goals and will continue to push forward.”
Marquez gained a significant lead during the race, allowing him to contemplate various things in the closing laps.
"In the last three laps, I was already thinking about being on the podium," he mentioned. "But more than that, I was thinking about the Gresini garage; it's always lively and cheerful there, like a constant celebration."
"Besides that, the primary factor was the support from those around me. In extremely challenging times, when you're in a tough spot, having a compassionate team of genuinely kind individuals who feel your pain even more deeply than you do — that was crucial."
"The celebration felt unusual because, in other races, the excitement was greater even for second or third place finishes. Today, it was more about feeling emotional rather than experiencing a rush of adrenaline."
After leading all sessions except for the rain-soaked Warm Up on Sunday morning, Marquez confessed that he experienced some pressure to finish his weekend with a Grand Prix win.
"I felt a lot of pressure today," he remarked. "If you noticed during the Sprint yesterday, I wasn't having a good time because I was aware of the significance of today and recognized that I had a crucial opportunity ahead."
"That's why I aimed to stay focused. When you have the necessary speed, it seems like you can handle the situation, stay consistent, and make smart decisions. However, without that speed, it becomes incredibly challenging to manage things."
"Let's aim to improve our speed in the upcoming races and try to stay competitive with the top contenders."
Marquez views this victory similarly to his win at the 2021 German Grand Prix, which marked his first comeback triumph after suffering an arm injury during the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix.
Marquez stated, "I consider it to be on the same level as the 2021 event in Germany."
"When faced with numerous injuries and a challenging period, the significance of the wins changes."
"Although I have 60 wins, those two victories, along with my first MotoGP win, stand out as the most significant. They provide a unique boost of confidence and give you that extra edge."
"I hadn't felt well for quite some time, and the laps this weekend were brief. I was simply riding, it felt effortless, and I was in the zone, but I made sure to stay very focused to avoid any errors."
Despite it being Marquez's 12th race weekend with the Gresini Ducati team, he revealed that he had believed in the possibility of winning ever since he first rode the Desmosedici during the Valencia test at the close of 2023.
During the Valencia test, Marquez mentioned, "I understood that a race victory is on the horizon. It was there that I saw we would get our chances. Competing for the championship is another matter; we need to continue our efforts for that goal."
“However, while in Valencia, I began to realize that it would eventually come.”
