Lisa Nandy described Sir Keir Starmer's acceptance of several thousand pounds in football tickets as "very sensible."
The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport stated that she had never received complimentary attire from any benefactor.
In a conversation with Sky News during the opening day of the Labour Party conference, the Wigan MP commented: "Since [Sir Keir] assumed the roles of leader of the opposition and later, prime minister, his presence in public seating areas necessitates extensive security measures. This not only disrupts others but also incurs significant costs for taxpayers."

"In my opinion, he has made a very prudent choice in acknowledging that it's neither right nor suitable for him to stay, and it's correct for him to agree to move to a different section."
"Yet, I'm aware he would prefer to be in the bleachers, rooting for the team alongside the familiar group he has attended football games with for years."
Ms. Nandy remarked that although she doesn't receive complimentary clothing—humorously noting, "I think it's quite obvious that I select my own wardrobe, unfortunately"—she refrains from criticizing the choices of her fellow MPs.

Sir Keir has been identified as the recipient of a significantly higher amount of gifts and complimentary benefits compared to other MPs, accumulating over £100,000 in gifts, benefits, and hospitality since December 2019.
The dispute threatens to dampen the spirits at Labour's first party conference in 15 years while being in power.
Today, Diane Abbott, a seasoned Labour MP known for her critical views on Sir Keir, charged the party with being overly influenced by wealthy donors.
Referring to statements from a Labour minister, Ms. Abbott remarked on X: "Ellie Reeves MP mentioned, 'Labour's general election win was achievable only through the transformation of the party under Keir's leadership.'"
"Transformed it into an entity controlled by wealthy magnates?"
'Completely clear'
Leader of the House of Commons, Lucy Powell, stated that as Prime Minister, Sir Keir will receive suitable counsel on whether the football-related hospitality he has accepted could pose a conflict of interest, especially as the Labour government aims to establish an independent football regulator.
She informed Sky News today that Sir Keir, Ms Rayner, and Ms Reeves have been "completely open" regarding the gifts and complimentary items they received.
"She mentioned that the reason it's a topic of discussion is because they announced it."
Discussing the approximately £40,289 in donations she received, Ms. Powell stated they were "not giveaways."
She stated that the "overwhelming majority" occurred during her tenure as the shadow culture secretary, when she attended "official events" featuring industry or sports activities.
"The leader of the Commons emphasized the government's commitment to serving the public, stating that this is their core mission," she remarked, noting that her party has rapidly initiated measures to enhance the conduct of MPs by implementing stricter regulations on their additional income.
In response to inquiries concerning the prime minister's choice to reject clothing donations while still accepting football hospitality, Ms. Powell noted that given his role, the Labour leader would find it challenging to be in the stands as a regular spectator.
"She stated that his main priority is to fulfill his role as prime minister and work towards improving the country; that remains his utmost concern."
"Ms. Powell noted that he seldom takes a break from his routine, only occasionally pausing to catch an Arsenal match."
