F1 driver faces 60-place grid penalty for United States Grand Prix

Significant grid penalty imposed due to engine infraction in Texas

Liam Lawson is set to receive a grid penalty amounting to 60 places at the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.

As a result of incurring an engine penalty, the RB driver will begin the race from the last position on the grid.

For the first time, Lawson will be competing in a race in the United States this weekend, stepping in for Daniel Ricciardo.

However, Lawson will be taking over Ricciardo's engine parts, as F1 regulations specify that these components are associated with the vehicle instead of the driver.

Lawson was aware that returning to F1 would result in a significant penalty because of the requirement to replace engine components.

The 60-place grid penalty is due to RB replacing six components, with each component incurring a penalty of 10 grid positions.

Lawson's vehicle has been equipped with a new internal combustion engine, a turbocharger, a motor generator unit for heat, a motor generator unit for kinetic energy, an energy storage system, and control electronics.

Every section surpasses the yearly budget.

Lawson has an updated exhaust system, and since it's the fifth out of the eight permitted, it complies with the regulations.

Beginning from the last position on the grid will provide Lawson with a stress-free comeback to Formula 1.

At the close of 2023, he made a strong impression when he stepped in for the injured Ricciardo. However, now that he is a full-time driver for at least the last six races of the season, the pressure has increased.

Lawson has stated that the aim of securing a position with Red Bull's sister team is currently not a priority.

Speed Showdown: Lewis Hamilton Outpaces Charles Leclerc in Ferrari’s Latest F1 Test

Unveiled: Lewis Hamilton’s Lap Time Compared to Charles Leclerc in Recent Ferrari Test

Information from Lewis Hamilton's most recent test with Ferrari F1 shows a comparison with Charles Leclerc.

On Tuesday, Lewis Hamilton had his inaugural experience driving Ferrari's latest Formula 1 vehicle at the Barcelona circuit.

The driver, who has won the world championship seven times, made a comeback with Ferrari at the Spanish Grand Prix location. This appearance occurred almost a week following his crash involving the team's 2023 vehicle at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Lewis Hamilton and his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, are teaming up with McLaren to participate in a two-day test session for Pirelli tires, aimed at supporting their development for the 2026 season.

In contrast to Hamilton's earlier private sessions with Ferrari, this initiative was organized for Pirelli's advantage and directed by Formula 1's tire provider.

The purpose of the test is to assess the newest designs for the 2026 tires, specifically the C1, C2, and C3 hard compounds.

Both Ferrari and McLaren have adapted their cars for the current competition. Meanwhile, Hamilton experienced driving the SF-24 for the first time, following his earlier test sessions with the SF-23.

Hamilton outpaces Leclerc Lando Norris achieved the quickest lap of the day, clocking in at 1 minute 15.215 seconds, while completing 159 laps driving McLaren's 2023 MCL60.

Following on the leaderboard was Hamilton, who completed 87 laps with a time of 1 minute and 15.930 seconds. Although Hamilton outpaced the two Ferrari drivers, the lap times hold little significance during testing.

Leclerc completed 86 laps, achieving his fastest time of 1 minute and 16.060 seconds.

Reports suggest that Ferrari conducted a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) session with their SF-23 on Tuesday. This was done to allow both Hamilton and Leclerc to recover the time lost due to Hamilton's accident the previous week.

Pirelli's tire testing is set to proceed on Wednesday. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are scheduled to share the driving responsibilities for Ferrari, while Oscar Piastri will replace Lando Norris in the driver's seat at McLaren.

Speed Showdown: Hamilton Edges Out Leclerc in Ferrari’s Latest F1 Tyre Test

Uncovered: Lewis Hamilton's Lap Timing Compared to Charles Leclerc in Recent Ferrari Test

Recent data from Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari Formula 1 test session has shown a performance comparison with Charles Leclerc.

On Tuesday, Lewis Hamilton took his initial drive in Ferrari's latest Formula 1 vehicle at the Barcelona circuit.

The seven-time world champion made a comeback for Ferrari at the Spanish Grand Prix location, almost a week following an incident where he crashed the 2023 model of the team's car at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Hamilton, alongside his new teammate Charles Leclerc and the McLaren team, is participating in a two-day Pirelli tire testing session to support the development for 2026.

In contrast to Hamilton's earlier private sessions with Ferrari, this program was organized for Pirelli's purposes and directed by Formula 1's tire manufacturer.

The primary aim of the test is to assess the newest designs for the 2026 tires, specifically looking at the C1, C2, and C3 hard compounds.

Ferrari and McLaren have both adapted their cars for the current season, but for Hamilton, this was his initial experience behind the wheel of the SF-24, following his earlier tests with the SF-23.

Hamilton outpaces Leclerc

Lando Norris recorded the quickest lap of the day, clocking in at 1 minute and 15.215 seconds, while running 159 laps in McLaren's 2023 MCL60 model.

Following him on the leaderboard was Hamilton, who completed 87 laps with a time of 1 minute and 15.930 seconds. Although Hamilton was faster than the two Ferrari drivers, it's important to note that lap times hold little significance during testing.

Leclerc completed 86 laps and achieved his fastest lap time at 1 minute and 16.060 seconds.

Reports suggest that Ferrari conducted a TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) session with their SF-23 on Tuesday. This test was aimed at allowing both Hamilton and Leclerc to recover lost time due to Hamilton's accident the previous week.

The testing of Pirelli tires is set to resume on Wednesday. For Ferrari, Hamilton and Leclerc will share the driving responsibilities once more. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri will replace Norris as the driver for McLaren.

Lewis Hamilton Navigates Barcelona’s Curves in Ferrari’s SF-24 Amid Pirelli’s Low-Downforce Test

Lewis Hamilton experiences driving a different Ferrari F1 car in Barcelona

A significant occasion for Lewis Hamilton as he drives a Ferrari F1 car once more.

On Tuesday, Lewis Hamilton took the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car in Barcelona as part of his ongoing preparation for the 2025 season.

On this occasion, Hamilton had the chance to get behind the wheel of Ferrari's 2024 race car, the SF-24.

The SF-24 just fell short of securing the F1 constructors’ championship, losing to McLaren, while Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz managed to clinch victory in five races during 2024.

According to the official details, the 2024 vehicle represented a major improvement over its earlier model, the SF-23, which Hamilton tested last week.

Last week, the seven-time world champion had an accident with the 2023 car on his second day of driving at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Ferrari is participating in a Pirelli test aimed at evaluating the tires for the upcoming year. Consequently, they had to implement an atypical adjustment in their setup.

According to Autoracer, Hamilton's Ferrari was configured with very minimal downforce to mimic the regulations for 2026.

Typically, Barcelona teams choose to use more downforce during the season due to the characteristics of the corners, making this situation unusual.

As the 2026 regulations are anticipated to cause a 20% decrease in downforce, the adjustment in setup is likely to provide Pirelli with improved information for their ongoing tire development.

Pirelli has not yet disclosed the precise events of the test, but it appears that Hamilton experienced a much smoother session compared to the previous week.

Leclerc recovers from setbacks

Meanwhile, at the Ferrari team, Leclerc was busy behind the wheel, piloting the SF-23.

This used a portion of the miles he was allowed for testing earlier car models.

Last week, Leclerc lost valuable practice time due to Hamilton's crash.

Ferrari wasn't the only team conducting tests in Barcelona; McLaren was also there, helping Pirelli with their tire developments for 2026.

According to Sky Sports Italy, Alpine was also at the circuit in Spain.

Sauber’s Strategic Shift: Establishing UK Base Ahead of Audi’s 2026 F1 Entry

Published

on

By

Sauber plans to establish a new facility in the United Kingdom in preparation for Audi's entry into Formula 1.

Sauber plans to establish a facility in the United Kingdom this year in preparation for Audi's entry into Formula 1 in 2026.

The team headquartered in Switzerland is set to transform into the Audi F1 factory team next season as the German automotive powerhouse makes its official debut in the world championship.

As Audi prepares for its entry, Sauber has revealed plans to establish a technology hub in the United Kingdom, aiming to draw in a wider range of engineering experts.

Throughout their history in Formula 1, Sauber has conducted their operations from their base located in Hinwil, a municipality in Switzerland.

Expanding their operations, Audi's power unit team will be based in Neuburg, Germany, alongside their existing facilities in Hinwil.

Furthermore, Sauber plans to establish an additional site within the area commonly referred to as the UK's 'motorsport valley'.

Sauber is considering several places for their new site, including Bicester, Silverstone, and Milton Keynes.

Sauber aims to have their technical center up and running in the UK by the summer of 2025.

Mattia Binotto, the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technical Officer at Sauber, expressed enthusiasm about setting up a new technical center in the UK. He mentioned that this new site will support their primary location in Hinwil, which will remain the hub for their main engineering activities and experience the most significant team expansion.

Moving into the UK enables us to stay connected to a highly vibrant motorsport community. Our goal is to establish a robust, cooperative network between Hinwil and the UK, fostering innovation and enhancing performance.

In the 2024 constructors’ championship, Sauber ended up in the last position, managing to secure only four points over the course of the 24-race season.

Nico Hulkenberg is set to join forces with Formula 2 champion and newcomer to Formula 1, Gabriel Bortoleto, as part of Sauber's revamped driver team for the 2025 season.

Perplexed and Snubbed: Jean Todt’s Estranged Relationship with Ferrari

Published

By

Jean Todt says he feels puzzled, asserting that Ferrari has ignored him following his departure from the position of FIA president.

Jean Todt, who previously led Ferrari's F1 team and is a former president of the FIA, alleges that he has been consistently ignored by the team.

Jean Todt held the position of team principal at Ferrari between 1993 and 2004, and subsequently took on the role of CEO for an

He was crucial in revitalizing the Scuderia's success and managed the era of supremacy driven by the legendary Michael Schumacher.

In 2009, Todt was chosen to lead the FIA, the organization that oversees Formula 1, and he held this position through three terms until 2021.

Jean Todt discusses his ties with Ferrari

The 78-year-old Frenchman mentioned that he has not heard from Ferrari since his departure from the FIA, and he expressed that this has left him feeling "confused."

After my departure, I've communicated with a few team members, but I haven't had any further interactions with the FIA since I left, Todt shared with the Italian news outlet La Repubblica.

I have to admit that I was quite confused considering the amount of time I invested in this remarkable company and the numerous achievements we accomplished.

Back in 1993, I found a dilapidated castle, the design sector situated in England, and a non-functional wind tunnel at the main office.

"Gradually, we created something truly special. On my own, I wouldn't have accomplished much, but I excelled at assembling and keeping a team together over the years, ultimately turning it into an exceptional group."

The record of 14 titles is still documented, marking the most prosperous era in Ferrari's history.

Ferrari aims to reclaim victory in 2025 and put an end to their world championship drought.

Last season, the Italian team fell short of securing their first constructors' world championship in 16 years, as McLaren edged them out by a margin of 14 points.

With the addition of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari now has what many consider to be the most formidable team of drivers on the grid for the next season.

Lewis Hamilton is set to join forces with Charles Leclerc in his pursuit of an unprecedented eighth world championship title in Formula 1.

Early Start, Late Night: Las Vegas GP’s New Timing Sparks Debate Among F1 Fans and Insiders

Published

on

By

Why the Time Change for the Las Vegas GP Affects UK Fans but Makes Sense for F1

The decision to move the start time of the Las Vegas Grand Prix up by two hours is a wise move, despite its negative impact on fans in the UK.

The 2025 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix will begin two hours earlier than previously scheduled.

This is unfortunate for fans in the UK and Europe, as they will have to wake up significantly earlier to watch the events taking place in Las Vegas.

The third and latest Formula 1 event in the United States is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. local time on Saturday, November 22. For viewers in the United Kingdom, the race will commence at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Similarly, the qualifying session is scheduled to begin at 8 PM on Friday night local time, which corresponds to 4 AM on Saturday morning in the United Kingdom.

The initial track sessions on Friday and Saturday, known as FP1 and FP3, are scheduled to begin at 12:30 a.m. UK time.

A statement from the organizers of the Las Vegas race explained the decision, saying, "This change comes from feedback, insights, and experiences gathered from the initial two races. It aims to provide more opportunities for fans to explore the area and to keep engaging with a larger audience throughout the United States."

UK-based Formula 1 enthusiasts might not be thrilled about the news, as they'll likely lose two hours of sleep to tune in, but the choice makes sense for a variety of reasons.

The wise decision for Formula 1 is to reschedule the race to a more favorable time for the majority of the United States, which is a crucial aspect for Liberty Media, the American company that owns F1, to take into account.

Ever since the first event, worries about the timing had been raised, as Red Bull's team leader Christian Horner noted.

"In 2023, he remarked, 'To begin with, it's clear that there will be numerous lessons to gather. One aspect to consider is the demanding schedule, which has been extremely tough on the team and all the individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes.'"

"Everyone is departing from Vegas feeling a bit worn out! The weekend has been tough on everyone working behind the scenes, and we should consider ways to make it better going forward."

Horner mentioned, "I suggest scheduling it slightly earlier in the evening, as it's impossible to completely satisfy every TV viewer."

"This is a race held in the United States. Scheduling it for 8 p.m. or a similar time would be more convenient for the people working behind the scenes."

Las Vegas announced a schedule adjustment for its 2024 return. The Friday and Saturday sessions were rescheduled to start two hours earlier, improving the experience for attendees.

However, the fix was not ideal, as team members and drivers struggled with jet lag during a grueling end-of-year series of three consecutive races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

The previous year, George Russell, who gained notoriety for taking a nap prior to securing pole position, discussed the unique difficulty presented by the Las Vegas track.

He described it as a significant challenge for the body, noting the drastic change from Europe. Additionally, he mentioned that they would need to readjust when they head to Qatar the following week.

"Getting a full eight hours of sleep is challenging when your schedule is so irregular. Personally, I try to rest whenever possible, like taking a nap before the qualifying session. Although I felt a bit groggy when I woke up, I ensured I was fully alert by the end of the qualifying round. It's tough, but everyone faces the same challenge."

Las Vegas is once more the beginning point for Formula 1's most challenging series of three consecutive races, and there is optimism that scheduling the sessions earlier will lead to improvements.

High Stakes at Ferrari: Lewis Hamilton Faces Early Pressure to Establish Dominance in 2025 F1 Season

Published

on

By

Lewis Hamilton has been cautioned that he must quickly adapt and perform well as he begins his journey with Ferrari in Formula 1, as concerns about an early pecking order within the team have surfaced.

Lewis Hamilton is expected to face instant pressure to begin his career with Ferrari F1 on a strong note.

After spending 12 years with Mercedes, the seven-time world champion has made a major transition to Ferrari for the 2025 season. Hamilton's decision to join Ferrari has been a hot topic in the F1 community since it was revealed last year. With only a month remaining before he races for Ferrari, anticipation and excitement are on the rise.

As Lewis Hamilton settles into his new role at Ferrari, he is experiencing a favorable start. However, according to reports from Italy, there will be an expectation for him to deliver strong performances right from the beginning, especially with Charles Leclerc as his new teammate.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari's team leader, Fred Vasseur, might be open to implementing team orders early in the season as the team aims to break their 16-year drought and secure a world championship title.

Following a narrow defeat in the constructors' championship last year, where they fell short by only 14 points to their competitors McLaren, Ferrari is resolute in their quest to secure their first world title since 2008 in the current season.

According to a recent article by La Gazzetta, the initial races of 2025 might play a crucial role in "determining a new pecking order within the team."

The report states that each driver has the capability to be the team's lead driver, and it will ultimately be their performance outcomes that determine which one will spearhead the pursuit of the drivers' world championship title.

The addition of Hamilton, known for his vast experience, charismatic presence, and seven championship titles, has shifted the dynamics from when Carlos Sainz was part of the team. Sainz was more aligned with Leclerc in terms of age, recognition, and standing.

Leclerc can no longer assume the position of Ferrari's leader; instead, he must demonstrate his worth through his performance on the track.

Getting a strong start will be vital for Hamilton and Leclerc, who are optimistic about the new Ferrari's capabilities to compete against McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

The report ends by indicating that Vasseur might have to decide early in the season which driver to support in the championship race.

Hamilton has no room for excuses

According to Martin Brundle, a pundit and co-commentator for Sky Sports F1, Hamilton should be performing at his best within two or three races.

"He needs to rely on his experience," Brundle commented on Sky Sports News.

At this level, no one has any excuses, not even the newcomers. However, you might allow the rookies a maximum of half a season to find their footing.

"They anticipate that Lewis will have mastered both his team and the vehicle in just a few races, to be frank."

Brundle emphasized that people should "never underestimate" Hamilton, expressing his belief that the 40-year-old British driver still possesses the ability to secure an unprecedented eighth world championship title with Ferrari.

Brundle expressed confidence that if Ferrari provides a car capable of winning races or a championship, Lewis has the ability to secure victories and potentially claim the championship title.

"I believe he still has the pace. However, in my opinion, Lewis Hamilton's peak performances are more likely in the past."

"As people age, they often lose some sharpness, and I believe this has happened to him. He occasionally finds himself in situations that he used to handle with ease but now struggles with, or he might make an error during qualifying. However, I believe that having 96-97 percent of Lewis Hamilton's capabilities in a competitive car is still more than sufficient."

Red Bull’s New Era: Liam Lawson Teams Up with Engineer Richard Wood for 2025 F1 Season

Published

on

By

Unveiled: The Race Engineer for Liam Lawson's 2025 Debut with Red Bull F1

It has been announced who will serve as Liam Lawson's race engineer for his inaugural Formula 1 season with Red Bull.

The race engineer assigned to Liam Lawson for his first Formula 1 season with Red Bull has been announced.

In 2025, Richard Wood is set to be the advisor and strategist for Lawson as he embarks on his debut season with the senior Red Bull racing team.

Sergio Perez previously worked with Wood as his performance engineer. Wood has prior experience in this position, as he stepped in for Perez's usual race engineer, Hugh Bird, during Bird's paternity leave last year.

Lawson has advanced to Red Bull after participating in 11 grand prix events across two seasons with the affiliated team, Racing Bulls. He was chosen for the position instead of his former colleague, Yuki Tsunoda.

A 22-year-old from New Zealand has been chosen by Red Bull to take over from Perez after his disappointing performance in the 2024 season.

Red Bull has fallen to third in the constructors' championship standings, mainly because Perez did not perform as well as expected. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive drivers' championship.

Gianpiero Lambiase will continue to serve as Verstappen's race engineer while also stepping into an expanded position as the head of racing.

This change is a result of Red Bull reorganizing internally following Jonathan Wheatley's exit from his role as sporting director.

Wheatley has departed to take on the role of team principal at Sauber starting April 1, 2025, and Red Bull has decided not to fill his position directly.

Red Bull's team leader, Christian Horner, emphasized the necessity of easing the pressure on Lawson as he prepares for his debut season with the team.

Horner mentioned that Red Bull plans to introduce Lawson to the team gradually, as he prepares for the challenging experience of competing against Verstappen, a four-time world champion.

"We have made a significant effort to avoid placing any pressure on him up to this point, and he is gradually finding his footing," Horner mentioned during the Autosport Awards.

"He is currently in the United States. He is scheduled to return to the simulator next week. He is performing well, and we are gradually helping him adjust."

F1 2025 Race Start Times Unveiled: Key Changes and Full Schedule Revealed

Published

on

By

F1 2025 Race Schedule Announced: Start Times for Each Race

The start times for each race in the 2025 F1 season have been disclosed.

The FIA, which oversees Formula 1, has announced all the start times for the 2025 season.

The FIA has announced the schedule for all 24 rounds of the upcoming F1 season, just a little over a month ahead of the first race, the Australian Grand Prix, set for March 16.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix schedule has been adjusted, with the event now starting two hours earlier than previously planned due to worries about the timing.

The schedules for the majority of the other races stayed the same.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix started at 10 PM local time, which is 6 AM in the UK, during the initial two years of its agreement.

However, due to worries about the event's late timing and the effects of jet lag on Formula 1 staff, adjustments are scheduled for 2025.

The qualifying session and the race are now scheduled for 8 PM local time, which is 4 AM in the UK, on Friday and Saturday.

The Las Vegas organizers released a statement explaining that this change is informed by the feedback, insights, and experiences gathered from the initial two races. The aim is to broaden opportunities for fans to explore the location and to continue connecting with a larger audience throughout the United States.

For Formula 1 enthusiasts in the UK, the race at Silverstone, known as the British Grand Prix, is scheduled to commence at 3 PM

Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton have introduced the Puma team attire for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc showcased Ferrari's team kit for the 2025 F1 season.

Ferrari has unveiled the all-new team attire that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will sport for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

On Tuesday, Ferrari unveiled their latest team apparel, which drivers Hamilton and Leclerc will wear at the racetrack during the upcoming season when they are not in their racing suits.

This follows Ferrari's unveiling of their racing suits for the 2025 season last week.

Hamilton and Leclerc, who are now teammates, posed together once more for a set of formal photographs wearing their Puma-designed team uniforms.

The stylish design showcases the new Ferrari sponsor, UniCredit, a collaboration revealed at the beginning of this year.

In 2025, Hamilton, who has won the world championship seven times, and Leclerc, who has secured victory in eight grand prix races, will join forces to create what many consider the most formidable driver duo on the racing circuit.

Hamilton is preparing for his first season with Ferrari following a high-profile move from his former team, Mercedes, who are competitors in Formula 1.

The duo has been engaged in private testing sessions with Ferrari, piloting a 2023 model vehicle at the Fiorano circuit and in Barcelona over the last two weeks.

Hamilton and Leclerc are set to take turns driving an altered 2024 Ferrari on February 4th and 5th. They will be conducting a test for Pirelli's 2026 tires at the Spanish Grand Prix track.

On February 18, at the O2 Arena in London, Ferrari is set to unveil the design of their 2025 car during the launch event for the F1-75 season.

The day after, Scuderia plans to reveal their 2025 race car, the SF-25, at Maranello ahead of the F1 pre-season testing scheduled for February 26-28.

Valentino Rossi’s F1 Tales: A Paranoid Encounter with Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari Garage

Published

Valentino Rossi recounts a story involving Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari garage.

Valentino Rossi looks back on his initial meeting with Michael Schumacher at Ferrari.

Valentino Rossi, a renowned figure in MotoGP, reminisced about a meeting with Michael Schumacher during a Ferrari test session in the mid-2000s.

The motorcycle champion, who has claimed the title nine times, has had several opportunities to test drive Formula 1 cars over the years.

His most notorious performance for the Scuderia took place in Valencia in 2006.

The Italian's display was so remarkable that it sparked discussions about the possibility of him transitioning from MotoGP to Formula 1.

In the end, Rossi stayed in MotoGP and went on to win two additional championships in the following years.

During a conversation with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Rossi shared his experience of meeting Schumacher and admitted to feeling "anxious" before their meeting.

Rossi disclosed that he had supported Jacques Villeneuve, probably during the 1997 F1 World Championship, since the Canadian driver was in a direct competition with Schumacher for the championship.

"I have fantastic memories of Schumi," he mentioned.

"It was acknowledged that in the past, I had placed a wager in favor of Jacques Villeneuve, which meant I was betting against him."

"When we ended up in the garage, I started feeling quite anxious."

"These days, he glances at me and probably considers me a fool. However, he was incredibly kind and offered me plenty of guidance. Truly a wonderful person."

Rossi's Notorious Ferrari Formula 1 Trial

Rossi participated in multiple Formula 1 trials with Ferrari, primarily driven by his passion for the experience and not with the intention of transitioning from motorcycle racing.

In 2004, he got his initial taste of Formula 1 equipment and even donned one of Schumacher’s extra helmets.

A year later, Rossi was given another opportunity to participate, this time during a test session at Fiorano.

In 2006, his test performance was particularly outstanding, prompting Ferrari's president, Luca di Montezemolo, to propose that Rossi could join the team in a third car, should the regulations permit it.

In the 2006 event in Valencia, Rossi was only 0.7 seconds slower than Schumacher's lap time, but there are a few conditions to consider.

Rossi was behind the wheel of an altered model of the 2004 vehicle equipped with a less powerful V10 engine. In contrast, Schumacher was driving the latest F248F1 car from 2006, which was fitted with a V8 engine.

Rossi continued to make a strong impression on Ferrari, and there were later assertions that he might have had the opportunity to compete in Formula 1.

One option was to start racing with the smaller team, Minardi, to build experience before progressing to a higher-ranking team like Ferrari.

In 2008, Rossi was given another opportunity to test drive for Ferrari, using the vehicle that came close to winning the F1 drivers' championship, ultimately losing to Lewis Hamilton.

On this occasion, it was an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of a friend and their team.
