Lando Norris Dismisses Rival Complaints as McLaren Dominates F1 Singapore GP
Lando Norris: McLaren Still Leads Despite Adjustments Following Competitors' 'Grievances'
Lando Norris criticizes competitors for voicing concerns about McLaren's Formula 1 rear wing.
Lando Norris mentioned that McLaren had one of their "most commanding" showings at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, despite the ongoing debate about their rear wing.
Although the wing, which was observed bending at high speeds during the last race in Baku, successfully passed the FIA's evaluations, McLaren has been instructed to alter the part following objections from competing teams.
Norris criticized McLaren's competitors after securing a commanding win in Singapore, which helped narrow title contender Max Verstappen's championship lead to 52 points with only six races left in the season.
"We haven’t made any adjustments to the car since the previous weekend or the one before that," Norris stated.
"We’ve had to adjust some of our wings and other elements due to complaints. Nonetheless, it has been an excellent weekend for us, likely one of our most commanding performances here."
"Honestly, I don't believe that was the key factor. The car has been performing exceptionally well for a while now. On several occasions, I felt capable and fast enough to win, but I couldn't secure the top spot. Part of the blame lies with me for not executing things properly."
"I've faced consequences for not performing well at times. However, when I take the lead after the first turn and everything goes smoothly, we can achieve results like we did today."
Norris dominated the grand prix on Sunday, despite two close encounters with the walls, the first of which slightly damaged his front wing.
The team mentioned that there could be a minor issue with the front wing, possibly being slightly misaligned. He admitted to hitting the front wing against the barrier, which may have caused a slight adjustment, but he doubted it was significant enough to make a notable difference, he clarified.
"It’s difficult to tell for sure. With these vehicles, even the slightest adjustment can cause a significant change, but I wasn’t really noticing anything."
